Default Help with a 5.3L out of a 2002 Tahoe will not start

Hello I am in the process of putting a 5.3L LS1 in a 1988 Wrangler. This is my first project like this. So I am willing to say I missed something. I do appreciate any feedback.
The motor turns over good and after some issues; I have 57 PSI fuel pressure at the fuel rail. I verified that I have 12.4X VDC at the B side of the injector. I only have code is the MIL error code. If I spare starting fluid in to the intake it starts right up but will not continue to run. It is not injecting fuel in to the motor. I feel like I am missing something stupid so I am asking for any ideas where to start chasing this issue.
I did use the factory wiring harness out of a 2002 Chevy Silverado.

Thank you for any feed back
Darrel

I do not have RPM due to the starting fluid is gone after 2-3 seconds. I only have a mil error and if I clear it it will return after I try to restart it again. I can hear the fuel under the hood and fuel pressure is sitting at a solid 57 PSI. I am not sure what you are asking about RPM signal. thank you for your question.

If you keep injecting starter fluid to the engine, does it keep running?

are VAT's[vehicle anti theft] deleted off of computer??? If they aren't the computer won't signal the injecters to inject i believe. But what do i know, im still researching for my swap! Good luck, and post up your results and what it was.

yes it will keep running as long as you spray starting fluid. I was trying to go with the stock wiring harness and it just is not working correctly. I am finding to many issues with it. I purchased a after-market harness last night. it should be here some time next week. Thank you for the feed back and questions. I will post up next week.

Where can you check to see if you have a RPM signal? I would like to look at this to better understand it.

Thanks

OK, then the problem is the security (VATS).

You need somebody with HPTuners or Efilive to disable VATS in your PCM. Then the engine will start just fine. I've done it before, exactly the same problem as you have, disabled VATS and engine started right away.

I had sent the Brendan at LT1Swap.com and he had performed the programing on the ECU. I had talked to him about the reprogram and he is very confidant and I am sure that it was done correctly. I guess I will know this week when I put the wiring harness in. I hope that you are incorrect but it is the info that I need to know. Thank you.

Brandan responded and asked me to check the injector to see if it was clicking when voltage is applied to Pin B and when Pin a is grounded the injector should click. He said that after a motor sits for a while this can happen. So I have to pull the injector out to clean them. So for $20 I can pull them clean them and replace all the O-rings. So I am happy with that. Lets see if this does the trick.

Its difficult to believe all 8 injectors are stuck.

I'm betting on security or electrical problem

^^^^ Not very hard to believe at all. It happened to my brother's swap when he did it. If fuel is left in the rails for a while, it's going to gum EVERYTHING up.

If you pull the injectors and they don't click when you give them pos and gnd, that's the problem.

yes all 8 were stuck. So I put them in to carb cleaner in a glass jar. after about 15 minutes it looked like a glass of coke you could not see the injectors. So I keep replacing the carb cleaner fluid and I connect the positive side of the battery to the B side of the injector and the A side goes to ground (I am using a remote starter switch so I do not have to deal with sparks (Will screw your day up if that happens). I currently have 2 that are working after 24 hours but the others are starting to make some noise. They just are not clicking yet.

The problem is that they may gum back up. I know we fought my little brother's for about a week before we broke down and bought new injectors.

If your car is running it is a lot easier. If it does not start then yes you have to pull the fuel injectors.

Best of luck
