Default Extending o2 wiring harness cause miss reading?

Recently got my car back on the road its a stock rebuilt 350 with ported heads and custom grind cam, pacesetter longtubes and ORY. Car starts right up and runs great but its getting horrendous gas mileage like im having to put about $20 a day in gas!!

I don't have exhaust leaks and fuel pump is stock with Accel #26lb injectors i know they suck! I have a racetronix 255 sitting here but dont want to install it until i get injectors and a dyno tune!

My o2 sensors are extended but not with a harness because shipping took a couple weeks and i needed my car out sooner. But i do have racetronix o2 extensions sitting here now. The car doesnt smoke or anything but you can smell fuel and my friends are telling me when they are behind me they can smell fuel like its running rich.

So how much if any does not using a harness affect the o2 capabilty to read correctly?

Did you extend the harness on the car? Or the Wires on the O2 sensor?

Wires on the o2 sensor using the supplied wire that came with the pacesetter longtubes.

There's your problem. You're not supposed to touch the wires that are actually on the O2 sensor.

Unfortunately you probably have junked both those O2 sensors.

I extended mine on the O2's years ago and have had no problem. I did solder and heat shrink the connections so everything stays tight, clean, and dry. Now if you have a loose connection or a short, that would cause a problem.

If you are running the pacesetters or any long tube, I would honestly just run the Corvette REAR 02 sensors, they have a nice long wire that requires NO extenders and they have a hotter heating element in them so you wont get the slow switching error you CAN (not always but can) get with factory O2's in longtubes.
