Default What could be wrong with my fuel set-up?

I just don't understand what could be wrong here, it seems I am doing the same as others with different results.

It's a Jeep Cherokee with a 2005 5.3L and LS1 intake.
Starting in the tank I removed the Jeep pump from the pump/sending unit assembly and entended a piece of steel line to about 1/2" off the floor of the tank. From there it goes to a E2000 pump and into a GF822 filter/regulator. Out to the fuel rail on the one side and back to the tank on the other.

Sounds the same as everyone else, right?

In the 3,000 miles I have put on the Jeep since the swap I have gone through four fuel pumps because they stop feding the required presure (fourth is dropping pressure to ~40 now when throttle opens) and swapped the filter/regulator once to be sure that was OK.

Fuel pumps used:
Ebay E2000 (China, should've expected bad results here)
Airtex E2000 (Advance Auto E2000) X2
Bosch E2000 (Advance 69100)

What could be wrong? I see lots of other people use this set-up without issues and I have a friend using this set-up for a LS1 in his Cherokee. 11,000 miles on his and no issues at all. FWIW the inside of my tank is clean, no gunk that could be sucked up.

Thanks

I will check the voltage at the pump today, the ground is good.

Interesting, maybe not.
You are thinking without the vent open it is destroying the pump?
I will look at this too.

vent, as the fuel is used, the tank is put into a vaccum state. Once the intake on the pump is exposed to a vac, the fuel will get air bubbles in it, and the pump will start cavitating. Running it that way is fatal.
Do the pumps get noisy before they go **** up?

Yes, they get noisy. I dropped the tank and realized I did a bonehead thing. When I was setting this up I used the vent line as a "temporary" return. My plan (now I remember) was to tap the tank for a return line and open the vent back up. I am picking up the pieces to tap the tank today and I'm sure my results will be better this time. Live and learn, thanks for the tip to trigger my old brain...

You might also look into another pump.

The e2000 pump has as many horror stories as good. I've heard flow issues in addition to quick deaths.

On my LQ4, I used the e8248. Same size as the e2000 but no issues I have read about.

I am going to get an E8248, then keep the E2000 as a trail spare. Thanks

LOL... I've got the same thing going with my Land Cruiser. E8248 installed and E2000 as a spare The E8248 runs my LQ4 well.

I bought the E2000 and then read so many issues about it I got the E8248 installed.

Problem seems to be remedied; for now.

Reconfigured the set-up to the way I had originally intended.
Prefilter/pump/filter-regulator/return to tank (tapped in) and supply to engine.

Running the Bosch e2000 pump and it's very loud even new. I will be ordering a e8248. Found them on Amazon for $94 - anywhere cheaper?
