Default Racetronix fuel pump unreliable?

I searched but all I could find was people installing them and stuff.

A friend of mine told me not to install a racetronix pump in my car because it would "intermittently cut off." Now im worried because I want to run a 150 shot on the car and I dont want my fuel to randomly shut off because that would mean disaster for my motor.

Has anyone heard of this?

i heard that a racetronix pump is just a walboro pump and if thats the case im gonna laugh in his face because he constantly talks about how awesome his walboro pump set up is.

I think your friend is a little off on his assessment.

Racetronix wouldn't have the reputation on here that they do if they were sub-par as he describes.

Read up the racetronix website...

This is for the racetronix ls1 pump: "Custom Racetronix / Walbro pump"

Yes racetronix is a walbro pump inside of a racetronix housing, the housing is just to make it a direct replacement. I'm fairly certain racetronix is the only company that modifies the walbro to have the venturi nipple. Without the venturi nipple you have to cut a hole in your fuel bucket to allow the fuel to enter, and that's were you run into problems. Racetronix is the best direct replacement hands down.

I have one and its been reliable enough to drive 110 miles every day for a year now without any problems. Im pretty sure that 7lbs of boost on a stock engine with 180k on it running 60lb/hr injectors turning 6000rpm would let me know if there were any "intermittent" problems.

OP: If all you read about are installs and not much else than that only means one or two things...... No one needs help fixing one, or no one has a problem with them. if there were problems with a product; trust me you'd find it on here.

Kinda like searching for problems with McLeod clutches. I've never heard problems with their clutches (but then again, I'm hardly in the trans section because my clutch has been problem free for 5 years.)

I commute 40+ miles daily with no issues.

I can't understand why your friend would brag about a fuel pump setup that takes away his ability to run less than a 1/4 tank but provides the same amount of fuel (unless he runs a dual or triple walbro). There's your ammo to laugh in his face.

Ive had 3 cars with walboros one being from racetronix, All of them have left me stranded other then my one racetronix pump. I dont know if it was just a chance but the one i got from him worked. But needless to say im done with walboros.

Know this though.. if you have a problem with their pumps and need customer service you have to go on their forum and register and wait for approval to register to get answers etc. They don't have a phone number or email or anything directly IIRC. Pretty gay..

Ive had a Ractronix Pump/Hotwire kit in my car for a few years now, and it was installed by the previous owner.. NEVER one hiccup, or issue at all!!

If im not mistaken, there is a Racetronix rep on this site as well.
