Default Not Enough Volts To Pump

I have a 96 Trans Am with a LT1. Just put a procharger on it and was putting in a Walbro 255 I had it all together and before I put the pump in the tank I went to check for 12 volts and I only got 7 volts!! So then I figured it was the Relay and pulled it out and checked and got 12 volts to the relay plug in. So then I plugged the relay in and checked under the car where it plugs into the back seat like area and got 7 volts there so I went and got a new relay and checked in the same spot under the car and got 7 volts. I started pulling carpet up and checking the wires and notice there was a ground under the carpet next to the side of the drivers seat and cleaned the ground up because it was a little rusty and still got 7 volts from the plug in under the car. So I have no idea what else to check for and im just stumped! Please help!!

Thanks mxdirtking

Car equipped w/ a hotwire mod? [From your description of the rusty connection, I assume not.]
If not...Get 1.
Is the pump/hanger equipped w/ a harness wire for ground?
Does the tank act as the ground? If so, what condition is that in?

No it doesnt have one and I will get one. Which would you recommend? The only ground that I came across was the one down next to the drivers seat.

Okay so I was looking and found one on summit for $70 but I was reading and it increases the average voltage and I need to fix it to get to the average 12 volts. But That kit comes with like everything from what I can tell and maybe it will eliminate my problem because I got 12 volts to the relay but further back I dont so I think if I get that kit it will eliminate the problem

Talk to Lonnie at Lonnie's Performance. He can get you set up with the proper stuff first time out and not break the bank. He's a sponsor here and responds to emails and PM's quite quickly - or you could just call him.

racetronix is a sponsor on here too. That's where I got mine from. Have you checked to see if you are getting 12v out of the relay? Can you prob the wires in different spots to determine where the problem is?

When I unplug the relay and stick the voltmeter in where the relay plugs in that is where im getting 12 volts. But im going to cut little parts of the insulation after the relay going to the tank and see how far I get 12 volts or if its 7 volts.

Can you check the wire that goes out of the relay that goes to the harness?

Okay so I was getting no where with it I was checking all the wires and was just getting extremely confused so I just ended up running a wire from my fuse box straight to my pump and now when its running im getting 13.5 volts to the pump now

That's not really the ideal way to do it. I would use the hotwire kit as it is designed for this application. Like others have said either talk to Lonnies Performance or Racetronix for the hotwire kit.
