Default Walbro 450 fbody installation?

Like the title says, anyone have experience doing this? What all is required to get the 450 to fit in that stock bucket? Also have a hotwire kit. Did a search and found a ton of nothing Wanted to know before I ordered the pump in case there's anything else I should order with it

Any input appreciated

Ive been looking around for the same info on a 450 pump but my main concern is the factory regulator and if the 450 pump will over power it. Fitting a single 450 in the factory bucket without hacking it all to hell shouldnt be an issue.

I was told a factory regulator could handle it but any more and you'll need an upgrade. Everyones telling me about these dual pumps but I'm not looking to overhaul the entire system at the moment...just get a pump that'll support 10psi through 60lb injectors

What about duel 255's then? That should work fine with what you have I would think. I was running 7psi with 50lbs injectors with a single 255 just fine. Of coarse every engine responds different.

Thanks for your response. I was told running a dual setup is more of a hassle than running a single 450?

It's all in what you want to do really. Dual pumps would allow for more growth down the road. O am not to familiar with the 450 honestly so I don't know what it does in comparison to the 255. I would recommend doing what your pocket can handle.

Duel setup is not really a hassle, there are many writeups on themy in here. Just do a search and make that choice from there.

Here is what I did. I also have the hotwire kit and a boost-a-pump. We'll get to the boost-a-pump thing later.

I upgraded the wiring in the tank as well as the connector on the top per Racetronix recommendations. You can do it if you want, not sure its needed, but I didn't want to take a chance since I plan to upgrade to dual pumps later.

Fit the new pump in, but need to remove the stock syphon tube since that won't work anymore

Now on to the boost-a-pump if you are going to run one. So the boost-a-pump runs on a 40amp fuse. Yes the hotwire kit has a plug and play connection for the boost-a-pump. But why the **** would you make and sell a hotwire kit with only a 20amp fuse in it specifically made to run a boost-a-pump in. Not knowing it was only a 20amp fuse, this is what happened the first time it reached boost about 5 miles from my house.

^^^Thanks for your thorough reply, I'm still torn as to what to do. Right now I'm more focused on getting the motor in the car and everything bolted up, havent even gotten to the fuel yet. I appreciate your input for sure!!!

a single 450 with a hotwire kit will overpower the stock regulator. I saw 72psi at idle.

Yes, I forgot to mention in my post above that I am using a return style system with a fuelab regulator at the rails.

What's a good replacement for that if I don't want a return system right now?

Are you sure it wont? Like I mentioned before I was running a single 255 with a returnless fuel system making 500 rwhp on my procharger setup. Its hard to imagine that not working for you for the time being.

single 450 without a hotwire makes 600+whp and idle pressure was 60ish with a stock regulator and lines\rails

You know this from experience? Right now I'm torn as to what to do. The AEM 320lph looks to be enough for what I want too. And its smaller so less butchering

Play with these calculators and converters.
http://www.deatschwerks.com/resource...ump-calculator

What car are you talking about that doesn't already have a return line?

Almost all of the single pumps will install the same: stock replacement, 255, 310, 320, 400, 450, or whatever. Trim the bucket as needed to fit, run larger wires from pump to basket top (submersible wiring only!!!!), hotwire kit to feed full voltage, and put it back together. The 320 and larger pumps should have a bulkhead connector upgrade that comes with the pump.
