Default Replacing Corvette style filter/regulator with an adjustable fpr.

I run a Vette filter/reg at the rear of my car. I want to replace it with a standard style adjustable because I don't think it's returning fuel well enough.
If I swap in an adjustable, will it need to be vacuum referenced, although the Vette style isn't? I'd hate to run a vacuum hose all the way to the rear of the car.

No. Just plumb it in, set it for 58 psi, and go.

I'm not sure what you mean by "not returning fuel well enough". Were you getting 58+/- psi fuel pressure? And enough volume?

Im getting 70psi at the rails and I think the Vette unit is what's killing fuel pumps. It isn't able to regulate or return what the 450lph can push.

I thought this was common knowledge by now.

You can plumb an adjustable right in where the corvette one is. It doesn't have to be under the hood.

If you are going to use an adjustable fuel reg that isn't vacuum referenced then leave the vacuum nipple uncovered. It must be open to atmosphere to work correctly. This is a common mistake......do not plug it.

Why is that? It came plugged from the manufacturer. I've been running it for a bit now. The factory one wasn't vacuum referenced, so I don't see what the problem would be.

If it IS vacuum/pressure referenced, the plug will keep it from functioning as it should. With the cap on, it functions as a non-referenced unit.

I've been reading about these issues of the c5 regulator not having correct fuel pressure at the rails. Everything from "it's not a wix" to "it wasn't plumbed right" resulting in 70 PSI instead of 58 at the rails.

What adjustable fpr and filter would you recommend to replace the c5? MagaFuel, Fuelabs, Weldon?

I always had an issue with creeping (or high) fuel pressure until I finally removed the intank factory one.

I use this one:
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/aei-13109/overview/

It was originally plumbed in for a turbo setup, but I left it there after turbo was taken off. Mine is plumbed (actually replaces) the factory T. I still use factory style replacement fuel filters. Zero issues with steady, consistent fuel pressure. Simply unplugged and removed the vacuum hose from when it was turbocharged

I plan to remove the intank factory one as well. I purchased QFS 8mm x 120mm Corrugated PTFE Flexible Fuel Pump Hose Line to use in place of the intank regulator. Brand is Quantum and part number HFP-FH89-120-PX. Thanks for the link. I'll probably go with the 13101 which is the same thing but with two -10 AN inlets and a -6 AN return.

My apologies...13101 is actually the one I have as well. It works great. I have a 340lph primary pump, and 255lph secondary pump, and it works great.

Read #15 on page 4 for a typical example of a aeromotive regulator. It also states it at the bottom of page 1
