Default Please Help! 40PSI and steady after brand new Walbro 340

Ok, I was having pressure problems with the fuel, so I replaced my Walbro with a new 340. Before upon priming the fuel pump, the pressure would jump to 40 and then leak down to practically nothing. Now it jumps to 40 and holds through idle. I am under the impression that 58psi is normal. Air Fuel seems alright even at this pressure, however isnt it just unsafe to run this low on a H/C full bolton car? What is toast? FPR?

are you sure the hose from the pump to the top of the module didn't come loose?

Are you running a stock setup except for the pump? I'm guessing you are not using an adjustable regulator?

Could be the stock FPR, if its still on there.

FWIW I don't think the stock FPR would hold for long with a aftermarket pump (i.e. high pressure - high volume). I replaced mine with an aftermarket FPR and removed the stocker. No problems as of yet.

I agree -- that little tiny stocker is pathetic. Might look at upgrading the rest of the fuel system, lines etc. Its expensive but do it right the first time and you'l never have to do it again.

Ok, Ill go for it. What kinda after market FPR should I look into, and where the hell is the stock one anyways. I thought it was the little thing at the top underside of the fuel pump assembly. Anybody got a pic for me and what lines I need to modify or connect to it. Im dumb when it comes to fuel lol, never had to deal with it before.

Please tell me you cut the hole? If you didn't I don't envy you. But I would also check the voltage your pump is getting. Check for debris around the inlet sock of the pump and the FPR.

Yeah I cut a trap door... easy 1 min access now Voltage looks normal, and I just changed the sock with the pump. I still need a description of the FPR, I think I am seeing it but just need verification. Right under where the fuel lines hook up to the pump assembly?

And bottom line.... 40psi and rock steady, driving it from point A to point B... bad for the engine?

just driving...no problem....don't WOT it tho. Yeah it's the little round thing under the fuel pump assembly "top" held on by a little spring clip. Make sure the supply hose right off the pump is not split.....I have never heard of the stock regulator going bad like that especially when it was just working before you put in the pump.

I was hoping that the line was split, however i replaced the line with the pump and everything was tight. I would probably be seeing a pressure bleed on the gauge if it was split and its solid after priming/startup. This is what was happening before the pump replacement and I thought it would be cured, but its not so Im guessing FPR.

Anyway I can pick up a stocker and fix it fast? I was getting a constant 60psi when it was working correctly. Dont really feel like going aftermarket right now as I would have to run new lines etc.

Thanks
Sean

Tell Jack @ Ractronix to get crackin and you can give him your money.

If his isn't ready yet, I found a couple different varieties when I was looking for one, with a returnless FPR that went in place of your factory T-fitting between the fuel filter and the gas tank. I did a little googling for them, but couldn't find you any links.

i got one of those "T" regulators for sale if you are interested.
you can increase pressure as much as you want with those, but if you want to go lower they will only go as low as the intank one does ( assuming you keep the stock fpr in there)

Just swap out the stock regulator.
