Is There A Difference In Gas
Hey i have always wondered about gas. I usually use Amoco Gold Pump because i always thought that was a pretty good gas. Is there really a difference. I hear a lot about the Shell V-Power?. Is there really a difference or are they about all the same?

You will make the most power using the lowest octane gas that will not detonate/knock in your engine...for most of us that is 92-93...but you can get away with 89 if the weather isn't too hot. If you use a higher octane than is necessary, you will actually reduce power output and increase the rate at which carbon builts up inside your engine.
Different brands of gasoline are refined differently, and contain different additives. Chevron's Techron was one of the best, however I believe that Chevron has been merged with a larger company.

I usually put in Mobile if I can't get it I go with Sunoco. As far as gas bieng gas, I disagree. I have put in high grade and crap, but noticed no difference as long as it was from the same station. I have tried a name brand vs. no name and the no name was HORRIBLE. I only got like 150miles out of a full tank. It was really bad. This was in my old Z28 and not the STi.
In the STi we HAVE to put in high test. Anything lower than 93 we get knock. I don't mind at all, so.... I feel bad for those who were getting knock(out in CA). Here in MA we get everything so I didn't have to worry. I guess the STis out on the west coast had to get thier ECU re-flashed...those poor poor bastards.

I put the WalMart brand gas in my LT1 and LS1 with no problems. I think the company is Murphy USA. I know my dad uses it in his Mustang GT and he's ok too.
I am proud to say that I save 3 cents per gallon when I charge up one of those gas cards.
V8 are so damn expensive to drive when your right foot gets locked in the downward position.

Sunoco 93 or 94. the place by me always sells 94 at the same price as 93 though sometimes I'd swear it doesnt perform as well on 94. i'm probably crazy.
