Default Installing Racetronix Kit

I was just wondering how long and hard it is to install the racetronix kit. I dont have a lift so i will b e using jacks and stands. I heard that you have to drop the whole rear is this true. I have a 2000 TA. Its the only car i have to drive so anything i do to it has to be done rather quickly. Also wondering if you can have too big of injectors, cause i was thinking of upgrading my injectors and pump at the same time to have done for future power gains but i dont want to be wasting fuel.

Thanks Dan

i took the panhard bar off and the shocks so that i could lower the rear enough. Just make sure you don't lower it too much and damage your rubber brake lines and wires going to the rear. From there remove the heat shields and the exhaust. I didn't even remove the exaust entirely. I seperated it where my y-pipe met the I-pipe and just let it rest on the ground. You have to unbolt the filler neck from the body and disconnect the lines and electrical connections before you can remove the tank

I am a mechanic and somewhat familar with GM's so with air tools it took me about 3-4 hours and that was at a somewhat lethargic pace

also from the mods in your sig you don't need injectors at this time so I wouldn't bother and save yourself some money

If you get bigger injectors, you will need to get it tuned (if you didn't know).

Took me a few hours to install. Removed the exhaust, move the panhard out of the way and let the axle hang.

But it helped alot on fuel pressure. Before my FP would drop from 58 to 40.

Even with a more HP now. My pressure doesn't drop below 50. I may just add a MSD BAP for peace of mind.

you dont have to drop the rear if you jack the car up by the subframe and let the rear hang and remove exhaust, panhard bar, upper panhard bar etc.......

same here. exhaust, heat sheilds, panhard bar, rear tires. You need a long socket exstension to get to the gas tank retaining strap bolts. With no around, is about a 3-4 hour job. Isn't a hard install, the Racetronix instructions are very good. Getting the tank out is the most work.

Didnt need to move the axle at all on my install. The filler neck was two peices. panhard bars, moved the shields and the exaust and it came right out. It will be a bit of a PIA on jackstand in your driveway. I paid someone with a lift, wich also came in handy as the weatherpak connector on the PNP hardness was incorrect and had to be changed. Racetonix isnt doing a thing about it either. Cost me for a new connector and labor at $85 /hr. I'm not happy about it. I paid extra for the PNP hardness and it wasnt pnp at all. If I was in my driveway I would have been screwed royally. They still havent done anything about it and probably wont. The kit was ok for having a wrong connector but there is not accountablity from them so far and most likely wont be at all. They have my money. Thats all they care about. They are aware of my situaiton and have done nothing about it so far. Vive le Canada!

No, you failed to realize that the harness plugs into the top of the sending unit unlike the F98 system where it plugs in behind the rear seat! There was nothing wrong with your F99 harness.

No YOUR absolutely wrong here. The PNP plug you show onm your website for the 99 is not the same plug that came with the cable. It was a wrong plug from Racetronix. The mechanic that did the wiring is an electrical engineer as well as a GM certified mechanic, and one of the more trusted mechanic in the pacnw. Your part was wrong and it cost me extra to correct it. You wont take responsibilty for it plain and simple. I expect you'll keep denying it. I havent met a company from Canada yet that had any integrity or cared about customer service or satisfaction. The friggin pnp plug was incorrect. Nothing on my car had been altered to make it that way the weatherpak plug was wrong. Completely wrong. Go ahead and deny it agian, thats all your good for from what I've seen.

All I know is the pic on their web site is for a 98. I plugged my harness to the top of the tank, not the firewall.

The picture they show of the 99 on the website, when the mech looked after finding it was the wrong plug, is actualy the correct plug for my car. It was like a 6 port plug. I recieve a twin plug. It was the wrong plug . It should have just connected the way it was supposed to on the backwall of the body above the axle where the old harness plugs into. The fargon installation was done right the plug was wrong!!

Top of the tank but there is also a connection on the body behind the tank above the axle. This is where the plug was incorrect. Honestly its an easy install, there was no reason for any trouble, other than a wrong plug!

There is no connection with the harness on the firewall on a 99+ f-bodies.

I only plugged mine into the top of the tank.

Its not on the firewall for the last time. The mechanic who did the installtion is not an idiot. He is one of the better GM mech's in the buisness, plus he is an electrical engineer. You think he got it wrong?!? cant read directions? hahahaha the plug was wrong!!

Then why do you keep saying you tried to plug in into the firewall? Nothing plugs in there!
