The Aeromotive pump doesn't burn up, the fuel gets hot from the high circulation rates. It picks up underhood heat and then vaporizes in the inlet of the pump which is under vacuum. This in turn causes the pump to run dry on vapor and that causes the damage. Any extreme volume pump is susceptible to that.

A speed reducer is a good idea, or twin staged pumps in parallel.

I like Twin Walbro 340's (255's) I prefer intank pumps due to the noise of most external pumps. I run one of my Walbro pumps continuously and the second pump in parallel when I am over 4 psi.

I bought a 98 tank originally intending to sump it, but now I think I'm gonna go with 2 in the tank like Mightymouse and RyanK... here's why for me:

To cut and weld on the tank, you need to have it cleaned out by a radiator shop (and many won't do it)... this process removes a coating from the tank inside though, and a guy I was speaking with via PMs recently told me that he did all of this, and that the tank rusted and ruined his stock engine because it needed to be re-coated after all was said and done... How on earth do you this?? The 98 tank was supposed to be a budget piece for me, but after all of the sumping and cleaning, etc, Nasty Nate's tank look like a viable solution price-wise...

Which brings me back to 2 in-tank pumps... this is a proven arrangement too, so...

2025 is nice. I run a -10 all the way to the back of the intake...then split it to dual -8's to the rails, then dual -8's into the regulator, and then -6 return to the cooler and back to the tank.

I run twin Bosch 420 external pumps. I had a Weldon 2025 but it was too loud for me.

Your line choices will be linked to your selection of the pre-filter, pump and post filter choices. So in the Weldon 2025 world you'll probably be looking at -10 from the sump all the way to the y-block and then -8s to the rails and the Weldon regulator followed by a -6 for the return.

The weldon 2025 and 2035 pumps do pull some power. So you'll want to keep an eye on your charging system when you are street cruise in the early stages of the summer. Things that will play with this are the undrive pulley which might need to be countered with a little higher rpm idle or even heat shielding on over the voltage regulator if the backside of your altnerator is exposed to the hot side pipes of your turbo kit.

Some people choose to run the Weldon or Aeromotive voltage controllers to reduce flow and noise while street cruising. I choose to run the volume up on the CD player. The little fuel cooler after the fuel regulator also keeps the returned fuel going back to the tank at ambient so you don't have to worry about cavitation in the tank with the warm fuel being circulated at high volume.

Im running a Sumped 98 Tank... my 2nd one.. the 1st one did rust but we saw that before we reinstalled it...
Stenod did the welding on a new tank....
Dual -8an lines into a Y-Block. -10an thru a Aeromotive Filter to a Aeromotive Pro Series Fuel pump, Aeromotive Fuel Pump controller.
-10an to the front.
Split at each rail.
-8an out of each rail into a Aeromotive Pro Series ADJ FP REG.
-8an back to the tank.

I forgot the last issue..... the sump interferes with a cat-back sytle muffler...

But 200 seems like a deal for all of the work... I'm gonna PM you this evening.

Anyone running a sumped 98 tank w/catback? Even with the sump cut down, it still looks like a difficult fit.
