Default Running race gas

Will I be okay running 104 octange race gas? I was going to get a little bit of race gas tomorrow at the track. I have a pretty much stock car except full exhaust and a cam. The fuel system is completely stock.

Thanks!

Well no not exactly.
You'll run slower, your O2's will take damage, and your Ltrims will go way out of wack driving around like that.

So it's not a good idea for a one time deal at the track? I was always under the impression that you pick up a bit of power?

Higher octane gas does not increase performance in a situation like yours...nor anyone else's.

It actually helps to deter detonation and all the other bad **** that will kill an engine. This allows nitrous cars to spray more and turbo/blower cars to up the boost and still be in a safe zone. You'll get your best times from regular 93 octane.

The only reason supras make "650 on pump gas and 10000000000000 on race gas" is because they use the advantage of the gas to up the boost to insane levels. That's just an example as it's usually when the pump/race gas excuse comes in.

In your case I would only run a few gallons of race gas at the most and fill up the rest of the tank with regular pump gas only If you live in cali with only 91 Octane pump available. but If you have 93 available I wouldnt even bother with it. If you do use it MAKE SURE IT"S UNLEADED.

not to change the subject, but running race gas up front with a low pressure fuel system, wont hurt anything will it?

If you have a way to increase timming you can probably get more power and faster times on race gas but leaving the car the way it is now race gas will not help.

Race gas for on-demand type use won't hurt anything, and is actually the best way to take advantage of the octane increase.

Some cars actually pick up some power by going to a lower octane fuel, but the KR would need to be disabled to prevent the PCM from overcompensating with the advance.
