Default 9 inch Axle Bearing Press Ring Grinding on Oil Seal

Well I pulled my Moser axles out of the tube in order to take out the center section, and I noticed that the red seals that sit inside the tube are being ground on by the bearing press ring and there are shavings all in the tube. On one side the seal came out when I pulled the axle and it looks like both have been rotating in the axle tube.

I guess with the "larger" press rings from Moser that they can grind on the seals. Should I just take the seals out and not worry about them? Or get new seals (and grind down the press rings to clear)?

What do you all think?

What about just leaving them out?

Well Moser Engineering sent me a message on here saying that if I am running the bearings with the o-ring on the outside of the bearing (not in the center) that the inner seals were not necessary, but optional. I called and talked to the guy at ME and he said there should be about 1/8 to 1/16 inch clearance between the press ring and the inner seals so they were probably not seated correctly in the housing. And he offered to send new inner seals to me so I will get those in a few days I appreciate the great customer service!

No I don't, I was thinking about just using a big socket about the same size as the seal to tap them in. On the other hand, I haven't been to harbor freight in a while...maybe it's worth a trip to see what deals on china made tools they have going on currently!

Good deal. Is your o-ring on the outside (toward the wheel) of the bearing?

Yes it is. No need for 2 seals in my opinion.
