If you use the stock flange adapter off a ranger you need a cross over u joint. If you use the adapter off an explorer you just install it on your existing u joint.

Well thats a torque arm mount for an 8.8 in a mustang.
See they are adapting these onto their cars and getting rid of the upper control arms.
So the end result is basically a suspension like an f body.

I've seen the scary looking LCA's some guys here are using to avoid the need of a TA.
Seems kind of strange what the f body guys are doing. JMHO.

Yea, I think these guys would get good business to make an f body housing and TA kit. But then again I think that TA kit cost around $1500, maybe not.

Cam said he still has a jig to make the TA mounts, but is limited time-wise when he can make them.

If another month goes by with no progress, I'm just gonna sell my 8.8 and go 12-bolt.

Those pics give me a good idea of how ta make a torque arm set up for the 8.8 ta fit my car. It's a 98 TA. Thanks, for posting them. I'd totally forgot about that set up. I had looked at those before.

DarkFormula, what kinda trq. arm do you have? One ta fit a stock 10 bolt,12 bolt, or the 9 inch. I know several fit mutiple housing's. Good luck on getting ur mount.

Hey, i bought one of the first 8.8's CAM made almost 5 years ago. Actually just had the housing made and i ordered all the parts i wanted and built it. Ley me tell you, i hear from him every few months asking how it is. i have been beating the hell out of it for almost 5 years and the car and rear end probably have well over 500+ passes. and i can guarantee over half of them were low 1.4 60' or better. i have a 2002 ws6 with a built ls7 putting down 510rwhp thru a th350 and a 5200 stall circle d converter. the car runs low 10's. i actually went 10.17@132mph on a 1.37 60' and numerous other low 10's. i race at a 600' track also. i just got the new motor retuned due to a few aditions and went out and made some passes over the last few weeks. i did manage a 6.07@102mph on a 1.34 60' off the footbrake. he did a great job and i never regret going with the 8.8 over a 12 bolt or 9 inch and plus parts are readily available for 8.8's

mine is :
his housing
31 spline axles
spool
motive performance 3.73 gears
ford 9" big bearings
billet 1350 yoke
girdle

never had a problem with it.
Thanks Cam

here is a vid of it from about 3 weeks ago. 2nd pass off the trailer after getting tuned, hence hitting the rev limiter, oops

i replaced my dana 35 in my jeep tj with an 8.8 from a explorer. they can be found in a 3.73 and 4.10 from the factory. we cut off the brackets from my 35, built a little jig and welded them on to the 8.8. total cost for my 8.8 was less than $200. i could have bought a bracket kit from rubicon etc but i was being cheap. you can run 35s and they can take a pretty fair amount of abuse.

I'd like to see some 6 speed cars with that rear and see how they fare. I've seen automatic cars break into the 10's with stock 10 bolts. I think this idea has gone by the wayside because it's inconsistently made and no one backs them up. You're probably better off with a 9" housing and assembling it yourself. I wanted a 8.8 until I saw all the fiascos with them. Those who have them are just lucky I guess.

I put my 8.8/Hybrid in my 6 speed car back in 2003. It's been perfect. Slicks and nittos have been ran at the drag strips.

now is the 8.8 the same length as the 10bolt?
and can you just take the axel tubes off the 8.8 and weld your axel tubes from your 10bolt on the 8.8

i can get an 8.8 for 100$ with 4.10s or 4.11s just wondering or im just gona get a 12bolt or 9inch.

i have an 8.8 in my camaro. It has a pissload of passes on it with no issues whatsoever! I daily drive my Z as well so it sees a lot more than the track and has yet to even act up on me yet. As long as the torque arm bracket is welded properly then you should be ok. My rearend was in a 9 sec car and had a lot of passes on it yet still holds its own.

Mine has:
Mustang housing
Detroit locker
TA girdle
TA torque arm
4:11 gear
33 spline axles

Heres a vid of it from this past sunday on slicks
