Narrowed question's Okay I am about to purchase a 9" and I don't understand why you would narrow it. What are the advantages to a narrowed rear? What are some disadvantages to it? I would like to be able to fit 315's on my 01 WS6 and I am going with a non-sponsor 9".

For me, no. I'm good with the wheel options I have. Other people will say otherwise for themselves. Your call.

Some people will say that narrowing a rear reduces weight also. You just change the offset of the wheel it weights the same but you remove material from the rear(not a huge amount of weight). I got my rear narrowed because I wanted the look of the deep dish drag wheel

does any body no how much you need to have it narrowed, or what the measurement is on the axle tube from center section on both sides? isnt the passenger side a different length then the driver side tube?

The Moser M9 in my Camaro is one inch shorter on each side. I'm using a 15 x 10 heel with a 6.5 inch backspacing. Bob
so why do usually some people get 3 to 3.5 inches narrowed per a side? is that in order to run the 325 on a 15" rim?

You can run the 325 on a stock width rear with 7.5 backspace. I personally would go with a narrowed rear with a 5.5 backspace which is what i went with except with a 275 tire instead. More of a dish due to the backspace of the rim. I narrowed mine mainly because i wanted my tires tucked more and the deeper dish look. You will more than likely have to purchase offset LCA's to get it to work which will allow a bit more clearance and allow you to center the tire in the wheel well.
I got mine narrowed 2" on each side. Allows me to use a summit 15X10 star wheel with 5.5" backspacing which is much cheeper as it is not available in a 7.5" backspacing. Mostly helps with the purchase of wheels for drag racing. The market is becoming better, but in the past it was hard to find a 15" wheel with a 7.5" backspacing, for a low price. The only thing I don't like is running spacers for stock wheels, I personally don't like running spacers, if I had it to do over again I would just buy the stock width rear and bite the bullet for more expensive drag wheels.
