im going to be doing a build soon bought a rear for 100 bucks good condition so why not give it a try if it doesnt work junk it and bite the bullet and buy 12bolt or 9inch. ive seen alot of peoples torque arm brackets and some are nice some are scary and some are just impossible for the diy ls1tech'er...im going to leave the rear the way it is for now to see how this tq bracket will hold up if it holds up it will be a bolt on type that ive seen a couple companys make but with the side mount for the tq arm. ill keep it posted when i start working on it

why dont companies who can do fabwork start converting Ford 8.8's for use in f-bodies??? I mean... they could sell them for $1000+ and people would eat them up (myself included).

Couple questions. So far hows the ladder bar setup? Still working ok? Also did your mini ladder bars interfere with the bumpstops? After a load is put on the rear end it looks like the bump stops have like half an inch before they hit.

There is no contact with bumpstops and the ladder bars. It's all still working just fine no problems what so ever. My car is currently waiting on me to learn the ins and out of hp tuners and then let the real test begin.

i just got an 8.8 housing from a guy that already swapped the 10 bolt brackets over, so i'm just rounding up the internals to starting putting it together now. i'm getting a 31 spline trac-loc carrier that i'm going to rebuild with the cobra carbon fiber clutch packs, 4.10 gears, and moser 31 spline non-abs axles with the camaro lug pattern drilled in. i'll be doing the mini ladder bar set-up as well. should have it in the car by the end of the year.

I'm still waiting on my buddy to pull his rear end out of his parts car, but after that I should make some progress and have some pics up. I don't have any funds for the axles and everything else, but I have a spare 10 bolt so I can get all of the fab work done

Have anyone had any issues with their setup?

Ive got a diff, upper control arms, and a donor housing. But im getting nervous the LCA box isnt going to stand up to the force of a differential shoving it down all the time.

Im thinking i can weld it all around, but im still nervous this is just going to destroy it.

Add one more to the list of cars that WILL be getting an 8.8. I have two 94-98 8.8's sitting around and one is going to make it's way under my Wifes LT1.

I have yet to have any issues with mine. I will say that my car has had more down time than drive but i beat on it pretty good today with drag radials.

Wouldn't it be trying to force the lca's forward and up upon accelleration?

Yes your right, you are basically trying to lift the front of the car with the LCAs now instead of the long *** TA.

I found a few places that make gussets, or you could build your own and weld it to the bottom of the LCA so it doesn't want to kink or bend.

Something like this if what I was planning on ordering to weld to the bottom side to beef it up, but mabye not so long and wide....

I was thinking about that too, but I'm trying to figure out what bushings to use. I was almost thinking of a solid bushing in the front (aluminum?) and a super joint in the ack so it can still articulate if it has to, but won't wobble from having all flex type joints.

I was also thinking about building a watts link for my car to replace the panhard bar, but I don't want to loose room for my exhaust so its a toss up.

Anyone else have their rear end tore down and have some pics of the process? My buddy that had the 8.8 for me sold the car, but I have another guy that has one with 4.10s already that wants to sell his, but not until he gets a 9". I'm sick of waiting for a good deal LOL
