2:73s to 3:73s here...perfect...juuuussstttt enough to hook in a auto...4:10s are alittle crazy for traction with an auto, and the shock load from 1st to 2nd is going to eat your 10bolt alive...you can utilize 4:10s better in a m6...but whatever have at it.. I really don't see how you can hook with 4:10s in a a4..Most of the time I have to baby my car off the line with 73s to get it to "go" and not spin...

so i put some 4.10s in my car to replace the 3.42s i had after the stock carrier blew into pieces and out the cover. well i do dd the car during the summer when its nice. well the 4.10s were a bad idea. it runs 2250 at 60mph. well that just on a 2 lane if i were to drive it on the interstate say goin 80 its well over 3k. i cant say im unhappy with the gears. this thing will move! when i can get traction!
but as far as a trip car anymore i kicked that in the bag. anyone with 3.73s and an a4 car got and comments on how there car runs? think i should change to 3.73s?

I switched from m6 to 4000 stall with the 4.10's it is great for 1/4 mile and around town. More for the street driving fun. I could put up with it for a small amount of time 50 miles or less on the interstate.
However this is not my daily driver and would not take it on a 6 hour road trip.
It is what you want. I would say try a 3.73 ratio

We went from 3.08s to 4.10s... we saw a 25% increase in cruise RPM and a 100% increase in smiles! It really makes a difference in how the car accelerates while driving down the road. Also there is more to life than ETs at the strip; the added gearing makes the car feel lighter because the engine doesn't have to leverage as hard against the gears to get the car moving quicker.
110mph comes on real fast now too... I really have to watch what I am doing when passing.
