4.10 gears pinion breaking?
I'm an m6 n a buddy told me not to get 4.10's cu the pinion is smaller and will break easier! True? Or should I not be worried? I'm a full bolt on car but don't launch hard if at all! I plan on gettin gears in the next week!

I'm not going to disagree with your buddy because it has a lot to do with how you drive, but it is true that as you go up in ratio (numarically) the pinion gets less teeth and smaller.

Iv got 4:10s behind my 6 speed..and Iv had them in for about 1000 miles..Iv been to the track once..and the rear end sounds like its about to expode..save your money and get a 12 bolt..
And yes the teeth get smaller and the number of them is less just like ND2RACE said..
You can set the up deeper, they will whine, but less chance of breaking teeth..

It's really a combination of what everyone has said. It does make for a physically weak combination, but you shouldn't be worried unless you're trying to plant a 1.4 60ft on sticky mickeys. I have 4.10s, tons of fun on the street, no problems, no whines, no worries yet.
However, given the great rep the GM 10 bolt rearend has anyways, i'd agree on putting money towards at least a 12 bolt IF you are wanting to put money into the rear end.

i think the posi and carrier caps will break before you break the 4:10's in a 10bolt, i have a m6 transam and with 4:10's and broke the spider gears, and a mini spool, so i just got a moser 9'' in with a detriot locker and its worth every penny. since you have a m6 car i would deffintly get a 9'' over a 12bolt, cus the 9'' has a pinon support, the 12bolt wont break, but eventually you will get some noise if you go to he track allot and do high rpm clutch dumps

Imbon my secon se of 3.42. My carrier pin wasn't tightened tight enough! And it came loose and bounced around and knocked three teeth of the pinion gear and chewed up the teeth on my ring gear! So I know wat it's like to have ur ewe ms gears like explode! Sux! But I can't afford a 12 bolt or 9 inch anytime soon lol
