Ok, I'm still not sure which ratio, but of these two, which is going to be stronger and give less gear whine? Thx! (That should be GM 3.73)

I have richmond 3.73 they wine a little when im going around 70mph, but I have the SLP exhaust, so I cant realy hear a wine that much anyways, I heard the higher you go in gear the more wine you hear but not sure.

They do have a rep for wining but are strong, you could try yukon gears I heard good things from them, it really all depends on who installs them, if they get the pattern right the first time.

richmaonds make noise and motivesless noise than richmonds. cant hear the whine from my richmonds anyways over my exhaust but 3:90 would be a better choice with a 26" tall tire which is the stock height i belive i had 373 but just installed 456 and love them!

the way i understand it is the lower the gears (4.56,4.10,4.11) the smaller the teeth the easier they break. so the ansswer to your question above is yes. I believe this is only a problem in a 7.5 10 bolt.

I have an M6 in the car and for what we use it for the 3.90's IMO would be the best selection. With the prices I'm being quoted for a gear swap/bearings there is no way I'm throwing that kind of $ at it without just putting in a stronger rear end when the budget allows.

If the gear is cut stronger, its louder. Quieter means its cut weaker. Its in the way the gear teeth are cut. However, making the gears smaller dramatically decreases their strength. So going to a higher number gear will decrease strength. Does that mean they will break? Depends.
