Here is my Explorer 8.8 rear.
Here you can see the pumpking with the slaves and the 10 bolts axel tubes in place. I'm dealing with what set up to use mini leadder bars or TA adpter. What happend is my chassis shop some times they are slow finishing projects and the easier way to finish my rear is use the LCAs leadders bars set up. If i do it i going to use a set of Metco LCAs that i have because they are a solid piece of aluminum they are the stronges LCAs that see. I going to keep you updated.
New pics of my housing rque arm bracket at end of the thread.

awesome man, what yr explorer is that out of? and did you cut off the axle tubes off your 10 bolt, or have them pullled out? I hear they are just pressed in. Im in the process of getting the stuff to do one of these set ups, and I want to do it myself so any info is appreciated. Looks like you ground down a lil of the 10 bolt tube to get it to slide into the 8.8 housing and then it can be welded all up.

One question that I have is do you have to put "collars" or "sleeves", can I just slip the 10 bolt tubes into the 8.8 tubes??? I understand that its some work but some info would be highly appreciated.

I put sleeves. Some people says you can press the the 10 bolts into the mustang axel tubes but i'm not sure.

How are you going to hold the tubes centered when you weld it?
An alignment bar?
If you weld it up with framing squares or some other rig you're going to be ruining axles and axle bearings because of the misalignment.

^thats what im doing. heres an idea i have, i cant think of the ends, but the ends from the 10bolts housing (where your backing plates mount from) you can purchase those, a truck rearend is wide and isnt offset(suv is offset). why not cut down the truck rearend to the correct length and weld on the correct ends and mounts you need. vs. having to use a sleeve and what not.

If you look close to the pumpking in the ford tube you can see a point of welding what i did was drilled a hole that took the tube and the sleeve them welded a point into the hole to secure tube aligned. Them i going to do the same to the 10 bolt tube to hold it together in one piece and do the welding .

are you sure you want to go with aluminum to weld the brackets onto? you can get boxed LCA's in mild steel from about any sponsor that sells suspension parts. i don't know but i'd think they'd be easier to weld and i would think stronger than the aluminum ones.

I will use aluminum LCAs I have for several reasons. The first to kipe the cost of the project low because I have the lcas METCO in my garage and I not have to invest more money. The second that the METCO lacs are really strong and I going to use the aluminum sheets of 1 / 4 inch thick that will be very strong. The third reason for my taste it would look much better.
