I went from 2:73's to 3:73's and was untuned for nearly a year. With that being said I did get two speeding tickets because I had no idea how fast I was going lol. For the tune I eventually just sent my pcm to frost for $150 and had everything fixed and got a little extra power to boot. Almost forgot good luck with traction lol.

you have a gps system? use that to see how far you are off.
when i had 3.73 gears installed i was roughly 15-20 mph off between 50-65 mph on the highway. the faster i went the higher it was

Big difference? I just bought a 98 T/A with stock 2.73 gear. Want to get either a 3.42 or 3.73. Never really drove a car before and after a gear change.

I have 3.23 gears, and just bought a nice MAC rear end cover, so now I am thinking to go to 3.73 gears.

Is this really worthwhile? I like to go some high speed highway driving, not just 1/4 mile drags..

Do I just need 3.73 gears, or is there some other things that I need?

I just recently did my 2:73 to 3:73 swap..best move yet as far as sotp....I was oringinally at 1900 rmp at 70mph....now I run 1900 rpm at 55 and 2400rpm at 70..not a huge difference but well worth it...

For the op you'll want to get tuned for sure, your shift points and speedo will drive you crazy....just get it tuned through frost (sponser) I did...and my car runs very good..

I switch from 323s to 373s and used my hand held predator to set my shift points and get my speedo right. Got the mph pretty close

You can drive it untuned w/o any issues. I drove my past A4 for a long time before having it tuned for the 3.73's. My speedo was roughly 8-10mph off.

Just drive next to a buddy at 35mph, 50mph, and 70mph. Just see how much you are off.

That sounds about right. I was untuned with my 3.73's and A4 for a few months.

Did you ever ask that ******** why he wanted $400? How did he come up with that price? If he's giving you a price like that he probably doens't know what he's doing, you could damm near get dyno tuned for $400... You should call him back and start **** with him, I'd call him a bitch and laugh at him.

I'm guessing you bought the car that way? That sounds almost identical to mine & I have 4.10s. Are you a4 or m6?

He should be able to tune for just the gear change. I wouldnt think over $50 if thats all you had changed. Might be worth while because if the speedo is off doesnt it actually put more miles on the car than you are actually traveling since it thinks you are doin 90 when you are really doing 70?
