Anyone put a rearend like this into a 4th gen
So i am currently starting a motor rebuild and next on the agenda is a new rear end. Besided the normal swaps, 12-bolt or 9-inch has anyone ever put a quick change rearend similar to the pick into a T/A?

Not that I'm aware of,but it would be great(also expensive) if they fabbed them for f-bod use.
A very low pinion entrance which would put the housing up high and I don't think they have the hp capability of a 9".
I'm old school and I remember those from back in the 60s'/70s'.

It's old school 'quick change' rearend.
Ring and pinion are permanent(various ratios of R&P available).
Gear change occurs thru/at the back cover. Pull the cover, slide off 2 gears and change. It's a gearset in the drivetrain prior to the R&P.
Travel to the track with 2.73s' in,change to 4.10s' for racing, change back to 2.73s' for home.

Rear clearence around the pumpkin area might be an issue. But all the suspension components get bolted or welded to the axle tubes. As far as horsepower, I know a guy with a blown/stroked/twin turboed street who is pushing well over 1k horses to the rear tires in a quick change. Thats why i have been looking into one.

The QC can take a lot of hp, and they have the best location of all diffs as per loss.
They need some room at the back for the gears though, they may not have exactly what the f-body needs to bolt in, but the support for the QC is large and tons of bracketry for them
You can easily spend over 4k, between what and how you order it, what bells, polished or not, which version, which axle or hub style full float, thousands of options...

Wicked, learn something new every day. It would be something neat to have, but between the cost of entry and having to solve the issue of the trunk/gas tank being in the way would not be fun.

I think this might be a very good option because of how easily you can customize it. Not only that you can pick them up for a reasonable price if you now where to look and they are incredibly strong.

yeh, i bought 1 at a automotive flea market for a couple of hundred bucks, had my car so guy took it to his place for me to pick up a week later, when i got there he also had another one in the corner of garage, i asked if he would sell it to me and he said what do you want it for, i told him for the price i wouln't mind having a spare for parts, he say's are you crazzy you will never brake on of these, any way i went home with the 2 of them, i am saving them to make a ratrod later on with my son. every so many years they change the diff for newer one or light weight tubbings or... he had a sponsor paying for them anyway.

There are different versions of the QC and other brands and they aren't all rated for big HP
Lots of differences, there is the 9" rp and the 10" rp, different side bells...
Call them direct to see if the one you find cheap for sale will work in your car or is it only for a 1800lb late model....

it may look neat, but it's completely not feasible for most any f-body. it draws more power and will not hold up in drag racing conditions. If you're circle tracking or maybe a tube chassis road race car then maybe, but that's it. We've been over this subject before.
