This is a long story.....
I call summit and order my 4.10's a lid and a bearing kit. I get it all in put the lid on and i take friday off from work to take the car to tulsa to get them put in. I call and make an ap. for first thing friday morn. I get there 10min after they open and they have already started on some pos ford truck and tell me i will b after this dude... So we go run around tulsa for 6 hrs and he calls me and tells me its done. Me and my brotherinlaw get in the car and take it for a test drive. The car feels the same... no change at all. We go back to the shop to pick up my other car and get on the highway. IT DIDNT CHANGE AT ALL!!! So i called the shop and asked what gears they installed and they told me 3.42's. I said "the gears in the box wernt 4.10's?" NOPE. Ok now you are prob. wondering why i didnt notice that they where 3.42's. The gears came in a solid white box and no where on there did it say what gears they were. So i call summit, hey why in the hell did u send me 3.42's when i orderd 4.10's? Long story short i yell at a manager for 15 min and they would only give me $100 giftcard after i took a day off drove 2hrs round trip paid the people to put them in and now im going to have to take another day off and pay them to put another set in and they would only give me $100.
Well $800 later i got a damn 4.10 10 bolt. If i would have known i was going to be half way to a 12bolt i wouldnt have done it.
As for the 4.10's they are ok.... They suck when you are tryen to drive in tree hugger mode b/c you are shifting like an indy car to keep the rpm's down.
BUT they are awsome at WOT. 2nd 3rd and 4th pull hard. I think the gears are going to help me out a lot at the track, i was having bogging problems off the line when it hooked and i hoping the stupid low first gear is going to fix that.
In all honesty I think I should have stayed with the 3.42's

If you're thinking 4.10's + a sticky tire + hard launches at the track, you might as well start saving for a 12-bolt/9"/S60.

u need some more bolt ons my friend 4.10's work great in the 1/4 i was running 12.4's in my m6 but im running drag radials, stage 2 clutch, qtp headers, lid, almost a full suspension, pully, and a tune 4.10's are worth it but im thinking about uping my gear to see if i can do something new with a full bolt on car before i put a new motor in it

There's truth to that however for many folks it's well worth the upgrade. Sure, the 10 bolt is a weak link in our cars, however you may get lucky and get a good bit of useable life out of it before it goes.

Dang man, you either need tires or the driver mod.
I was running 13.1 @ 104 at TRP in my car when I first got it with only a SLP lid. I ended up managing a 12.9 with LT's/ORY, Hooker muffler, SLP lid & heavy *** LS7 clutch on basic street tires.
Are you just barely spinning them over to clean them off before staging?
My last pass out was after the H/C install & was still on crappy bald street tires. With my 3.42 gears I couldnt get traction till third even feathering & ran a blistering 13.4 @ 114, LOL. Havent made another pass since then.
Your 4:10's will help out. Personally I'm just goin to a 3:73 to keep my cruising RPM's down & still get me into the power band a little quicker. But mine is a dedicated daily driver as well.
