Buying a 3ch lt1 9inch for my 4ch ls1
As the tittle states I looked at a used 9 inch today. It is in a 3 channel lt1 car and I have a 4 channel ls1 car. From what i understand all I would have to do to make it work in my car is take the backing plates off my 10 bolt and press everything onto the 9 inch and it will work just fine. i know I will lose abs/tcs but i am not too worried about that. Is it pretty much as simple as that? My buddy has a press to press the bearings back in and all that and seems to be pretty knowledgeable about everything but just making sure im not getting myself into a big mess.

If you take the axles and have them machined for the 4 channel reluctor rings, you can keep your ABS and TCS. Bob

I may look into this on down the road if I see that not having abs will be an issue. I just want to make sure im not going to run into tuns of trouble and fab work trying to convert my ls stuff to go on the lt 9inch. don't want to deal with a ton of bs just to save a few bucks when i could have bought a new one. It comes with the 9inch, trutrac, 31 spline axles, 4.11, aluminum housing, bmr torque arm, and torque arm relocation bracket for $1800 just to give you an idea of what i'm up against. All of this new is about $3100 if i calculated right not including the aluminum center section (which i don't really care about)

the 31 splines will hold up just fine with slicks.slicks act like a shock absorber, the side walls twist some.measure the dia of the 9' axle and compare to the dia of the stock 10 bolt.

Yeah I recon i could do that but I already have somewhat new drilled/slotted rotors and powder coated rear callipers . How are my texas speed true duals going to fit with a body mount torque arm?

Your Texas Speed duals will fit, although I can't guarantee that you won't need to modify them. I had the Texas Speed dual exhaust on my '99 Z28 with the Moser M9 fabricated rear, which comes with a torque arm and transmission crossmember. Bob
