Just found out I have 2.73's
For some reason when I bought the car I figured it had 3.23's in it and never crossed my mind to look at the code. Well I just found out a couple of weeks ago using edit that the car has the 2.73's in it. My question is will it benefit me to go up to a 3.23 or a 3.42 with my current TC? I know that it will help out my 60' time but how much will it help me pick up in the 1/4 if I go with either one. Or would you suggest going to a 3.73?

3.42 is a great ratio, but you do no that from 273s to 373s you will only pick up 1 to 2 tenths in the 1/4 from any gear install but your car will feel alot faster. I did the 273s to 342s myself and I enjoy the car alot more now.

FWIW i too went from the stock 273;s to 323's and a Yank ST3500.
What a difference!! they beauty of the 323's over the 373's is the top end. If you are into that. the 373's kind of peter out @ higher speeds.
323/342 would be perfect. IMO....

I'm pretty sure that I won't go with 3.73's just b/c I'm going to a higher stall and I do a lot of highway driving (for now). I'm looking to going to a 3600 with a 2.1 str. From researching it looks like the 3.42's would be good with my current TC but if and when I go up to the larger one will that be hurting me?

I just got my 3.42s in after suffering with the 2.73s. People say they don't help more than a couple of tenths, but around town the driveability is greatly improved. The car is much more responsive at all part-throttle positions as well as full-throttle. I'm enjoying the car much more! 3.42s will work well with the medium STR of your current and planned tc's. Most guys advise higher STR (2.5) for driveability with 2.73s. I think 3.73s would be even better around town, but for me, on the freeway, 2800rpm at 80mph is too high. I don't think there's too much difference at the track.

another vote for 3.42s.
not only will they make th car feel faster, but they will also "tighten" the feeling of the converter a bit. you may gain some gas mileage in "around town" driving because it will take less power to get the car up and moving.

Sounds like 3:42's is the way to go. Do you guys prefer someone else doing them or do you think I can tackle it by myself? I've never messed with the rear end before other then putting on the TA cover.

Where you guys get your gears The 2.73 gears are stage 2 carrier right with the 3.23 and up being stage 3 carrier. Where did you get the gears and did you put them in your self. Im been looking in to this for a long time but no one around here wants to do gears in the 10 bolt casue there so weak.

damn you got a good setup!
haha.. theyre on the way.. in the mail
