Default Moser 9 Popping?

Ive had this in there for about 4 months, bought it used. For some reason when backing out of like my driveway or parking spot theres a popping noise coming from the rear. Only 2-3 pops and it stops. Same thing going forward, it pops a couple times when leaving a stop sign/light.

Its got 3.50 gears, 33 spline axles, posi.

Also, I replaced the passenger bearing and seal about 3 months ago, replaced pinion seal/all bearings in pinion support, fluid checked weekly and use gm posi additive.

Whats up with that? Just started about a week ago...

You say it has a posi, but which one is it?

I know Detroit Lockers make a bit of noise.

Its not the Detroit I know that. Im not sure which one but im pretty sure its a Trac Lock. It may be the diff, kinda what I was leaning towards but I thought somebody else might have had the same problem.

Not the LCA bolts, everything back there is fresh and was properly torqued and checked multiple times after I put it on.

Only if the rear is hitting the sheetmetal. Look for the torque arm bracket to be rubbing the floor, it normally can make contact in two locations when a car is lowered. All you have to do is to take a prybar and pry the floors sheetemtal away in these areas. Bob

Its not hitting anywhere on the body. It did before I adjusted the panhard bar, put a hole in it behind the back seat by the tunnel but I fixed that. I just put a new catback on too and put vibration dampner on all the back of all of the heatshields and checked again then. It sounds like its some slack in the gears or something but I havnt changed anything so idk why its doing it all of a sudden...

If it has a Truetrac you could be in for a new differential, as they start making popping sounds before the fail. Bob

Well theres no way to tell without pulling it out right..

I pulled out the pinion support to put a new seal in and bearings and from what it looked like it appeared to be a Trac Loc but not 100% sure.

Whats so bad about the Tru Tracs in these cars? I put one in my truck and beat it all the time and it never had a problem or even made a noise

Sounds like you got the typical issue fixed with the torque arm hitting the floor. Only thing I can offer you now is to take it apart to inspect for issues to make sure you don't cause more damage than needed.
