Default How can i tell if i have a 3 or 4 series carrier in my Moser?

I bought a Moser 12-Bolt used with 4.10's in it.
I want to swap them out for 3.42's or 3.73's and before ordering gears need to figure out what series carrier i have.

If i take the cover off...how can i tell by looking at it if it's a 3 or 4 serires carrier?

Also, what kind of gears should i go with....richmond?
And, how much will my top speed decrease with 3.42's?...3.73's?

Thanks!

Dude, good luck with the new rear. I don't think you'll lose much mph switching to that ratio. You'll more than likely gain some mph. As far as the gears go with the Richmonds. I'm not sure on the carrier issue.

The difference will be the thickness of the ring gear, its hard to tell by looking. Best to call moser and ask what they usually use with 4.10s, I would imagine they would use a 4 series but you never know. If it was a 3 series and you had 4.10s the ring gear would look thicker then normal.

Joe if the rear came from moser with 410's then it's a 4 series carrier and whatever you do don't get richmond gears they are the noisiest of the bunch there tooth is more of a straight cut an i believe they are harder i would go with a strange gear,Oh an by the way leave the 410's in you wuss an get a 28 inch tire you have a daily driver
