Default u-joint

besides the previous question, the stock yoke looks like it has a mini harmonic balancer attached. does this help with balance? do i need to re balance drive shaft? does balancing require the yoke too? or do they just balance drive shaft only?like pink floyd says:"is there anybody out there?"....oldman...

Are you looking for a stock replacement u joint? I run Precision 234s on mine. They are non-grease-able stock replacements, and nice units for around $20 apiece. Yes the stock yokes have a harmonic ring on them and aftermarket yokes usually do not. I've seen both with no vibration issues so I'm not sure exactly what purpose it serves.

I bought mine at orielly. If you are running a stock type driveshaft then yes they will fit. I'm running an Inland Empire 3 inch aluminum shaft with an aftermarket yoke and it runs stock sized u-joints. The 3 1/2 inch PSTs and etc will run a 1350 joint which is bigger. If you are needing the 234 then just go to the retailer and ask for it specifically. There are 2 different versions, but the 234 is the non-greaseable, which is stronger because it does not have the hollow grease tubes inside of it. It is one solid piece. The greaseable version is like the 234x or something.

The stock u-joint/yoke are 3R (retaining clips on cross between yoke ears).

The aftermarket u-joint/yoke are 1310, 1330, 1350 (retaining clips inside outer part of yoke ears).

There also are aftermarket conversion u-joints (for example 3R-to-1310).

You have to look carefully at what you have before buying replacement u-joints.

You could orient the u-joint so the grease nipple is in compression when driving forward.
