Default Pics of broken driveshaft

This is what happens when your rearend locks up, and the driveshaft breaks on the autobahn at about 80 MPH. Luckily I have a driveshaft safety loop. Things could have been alot worse. http://jackz28.com/driveshaft/driveshaft.htm

I know that feeling. We just broke a driveshaft this past weekend at the track. Once we got the car to the shop, found out, the rear had locked up which caused the drive shaft to break.

Put a steel one in...along with "new" internals in the gear and the car is once again driveable...won't be racing until the 10-bolt is replaced...but we can at least drive the car.

stupid newbie question, but what happens in the driveshaft breaks w/ no safety loop? (I'm guessing worst case scenario: it enters the passenger cabin...)

The part that connects to the tranny cant do much harm, but the part that connects to the rear will scrap the ground and probably catch the pavement, in which case it will pull under the rear, lifting up the rear of the car and causing major rear end and suspension damage, thats pretty much as bad as it can get.

thats what I was going to say.you know when an athlete with a pole vault tries to jump over the other pole.just think of that pole his using is your driveshaft and the car is in the air when you dont have a loop in there.think safety.

I don't think I'm gonna try to repair the 10 bolt. I'm just gonna start saving for the 9". I hate it for you, but I'm kind of glad it happened to someone else, too!!
