Honestly. When I did mine with 3.73's. I did a master rebuild kit with all new bearings. Took everything out and thoroughly cleaned it and the housing and re assembled. Did everything for under $400 with painting it as well. Added a TA Performance Girdle as well.

I bought mine from Jegs. It came complete with ring and pinion, plus the kit. I'm pretty sure this is the exact one that I ended up getting. http://www.jegs.com/i/Richmond-Gear/...oductId=744534

On my A4 car when I did 3.73s I also bought the master rebuild kit. Put a TA girdle on too.
It had about 75k on it at the time and never had a problem doing 1.5s at the track.
The most important part of the job is installing them correctly. Poorly installed new **** breaks easier than perfect install used equipment.

The rear end I purchased did not have the bearings gone thru or any of that, just Richmond 4.10s with an Eaton clutch type posi. It now has somewhere between 120 and 130K miles. If I cared enough about this rear I would definitely rebuild it with new bearings and stuff (I took this rear up to ~145 one night and it was so loud I thought it was going to explode - no joke). I will be going with a 9" soon enough, hopefully. If you build the rear end right you should be OK though. I have a T-56 car with good power (see sig) and I have taken the car down the track many times on M/T DR's and the rear is still holding together. I am pretty good at slipping the clutch/won't launch over 3500, but the rear has held up to 1.8 60s thru a stick car multiple times.
