Default Narrowed factory rear

Did a search and came up empty. Does anyone have a suggestion for a company somewhat local to Delaware that can narrow my factory 10 bolt and axles? I don't want to spend 3k on a new rear as the car is for street/show and a 12 bolt or 9" is way overkill for what I'm doing. If I ever break it then I'll order one then, shortened to fit the wheels. I know moser is a option but that's gonna cost for shipping. Not even sure how to package it for shipping???? Any suggestions?

Quick performance here in Iowa www.quickperformance.com sells weld on ends for 3rd and 4th gen fbodys that they use on their 9 inch rears I don't see why you couldn't find a local shop to narrow it using those ends , you should be able to get axles from quick performance also. Ends are $80 , and most places charge $150 to $200 to cut it and weld on the ends. Axles maybe from $300 to $400 . Will needs bearings and retainers also. Id email or give them a call they can send you down the right path....then just find local shop to do the work.

Thanks for the info. I just learned a friends of mine has actually done this a few times and has a jig. I am going to narrow it myself and buy shorter axles. Thanks for the info on parts. That is helpful.

For the money you would have into a stock rear doing that you might as well find a used 9 inch or 12 bolt.

I'm doing it Fran, that's why. Just have to order the axles after I get it welded back up. Just trying to get these Forgelines ordered ASAP and I want a deep concave with a 3 1/2" outer lip so I gotta cut the rear by 2.5" per side. I have a jig at my disposal so it should be pretty straight forward.

Rear is cut and welded. Just have to order axles Monday. Any particular manufactures axles are better then others? Mosers were 295.00. Any other manufactures I should look at?

if you shorten the rearend housing .. your going to need to weld on new housing ends as your old ones your cutting off will be unuseable

Not true, I reused them.

As far as investing in the 10 bolt.... Read above, I already explained why. Not everyone has a drag car.

Who says you can't polish a turd??

Narrowed 2.5" per side, new bearings, seals and the Moser axles are on the way. All for under $350.00.
