Broke a TA cover bolt ... help :(
I was swapping my stock cover with the TA girdle on someone else's car. So we installed it, got the 10 outer bolts in, and after torquing the center bolts, we tightened the 2 nuts on them, and one nut was overtorqued and snapped the preload bolt off ...
the bolt is in the girdle, in the right position, but the nut to keep it from backing out or whatever broke off...
1) how bad is it to drive on that
2) can i order just that screw?
3) am i goign to have to remove the cover completely to replace it?

Your talking about the 2 bolts in the middle of the cover, right?
Where do you get these pressure bolts from. I popped one of my 2 bolts of my G2 rear end cover. I have been driving normal/hard for 6k miles since, but would love to get it fixed.
Thanks

I did the same damn thing to my T/A cover a few nights ago
When I loosened the 7/8" nut, the pre-load stud snapped off with it....
Seems to be holding up fine as is, but I'm gunna hit up my local fastener distributor and see if I can get another set of load studs, perhaps STRONGER ones....

i called TA performance and got another bolt shipped for ~$16 total.. pulled the cover off, backed the bolt out through the inside, put the new one on, and reattached correctly and all is well now

I just snugged mine with down with a stubby wrench after setting the allen bolts in place....
I didn't use a torque wrench (didn't have any specs on hand), but I know I didn't overtighten it....
A week later, I tried to loosen it and it just snapped

Do the studs maybe want some anti-sieze or
something? I have a Mac cover to go on one
of these days and wouldn't want to bust off
studs on that. Is it the steel stud binding in
the aluminum, or what?
