Default 99 camaro strange 12 bolt hangs low

Long story short was at the track and blew the 10 bolt. Bought a strange 12 bolt put it in. Brought the car to work and put it on the lift to inspect my work and noticed the rear was hanging extremely low. I am going to buy new sway bars and adjustable panhard bar to make the rear end better. Any input to why it hangs so low or is this normal? Also at the time i blew the rear i bent my driveshaft if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Hanging low aa in sagging while on a lift? Well, the Strange 12 bolt is considerably heavier than the stock 10 bolt. And now with a beefier rear end, it would be a good idea to up grade your rear end suspension as well//// Drag sway bar, adj lower control arms and pan hard bar. Maybe even a beefier torque arm.
Upgrade to a better rear shocks such as CE 3 way shocks, if on a budget. Hope this help you some.

Well then its perspective. Cause that little amount of weight for a near bullet proof rear end isnt considerable. I would call that slightly. And, youre a spool and/or brakes away from being the same weight.

A lot of things are gonna be subjective. Words like "slightly" and "considerable" fit that bill. I do agree with 01 though, snap a pic while it is in the air. It is going to be the easiest way for us to get an idea of why it is hanging low. It may just be as BOLO said and its the extra weight, or there may be some sagging going on elsewhere.

Its unsprung weight, I dont get how it could give the appearance of sagging

Sagging was probably a poor choice of terms in hindsight given most of us consider sagging being when the end droops low under the cars weight. I just meant it in terms of hanging lower than the OP believes it should be. There is what? Something like 9 points of contact on the rear that could be affecting this.

If you put your car on lift, the only points where the rear end is being held are the shocks, the driveshaft, the lower control arms, and the pan hard bar. It may very well be that the rear shocks are at their full extension at this time while on a lift, making the rear end hang. And different shocks manufacturer varies its full extensions( full length).

I sort of wondered if this was it, but I was thinking it can't be that simple. I'd judge it by putting jackstands under the axle housing and see how it sits loaded. Judge it that way. My $0.02

Uhhh....Some rear end weights

a 50lb difference is a ~33% increase in unsprung weight over the 10 bolt. I don't know about you guys, but I consider that to be significant. If you play with the carrier you might get weight down a bit, but still...

They quoted 155 in your thread above. Mine I personally weighed was 85 for the housing and 180 fully dressed. Thats 30 pounds extra for a bulletproof rear end. Unsprung weight and percentages in what bench racers yap about. If that was the most important you would race with your 10 bolt wouldnt ya? I have lightweight brakes so when we put it all together id put money my setup is lighter then a stock 10 bolt. This is one area when building a car you have to take a weight penalty unless you go fab9 which is lighter then the 12 bolt.
