Default Detroit Locker

Is anyone on here running a Detroit Locker? How do you like it on the street and at the track? How noisy is it? The new ones are supposed to be very quiet and strong. I have an Aburn Pro Series now and hate it!

I have one in my 68 chevelle. Once and awhile you get a clunk but I like it cause its acts like a spool but unlocks. Some guys dont have good luck with them but Ford used them in the Hi-po cars.

To be honest probably the worse option for street/strip application especially with a manual transmission and a torque arm vehicle.

Why do you say its the worst option? Works in my car but I have yet taken it to the track. I have A th400 auto

Like I explained with a manual and a torque arm is a different beast than a leaf spring or four link vehicle. Today there is better options, our Powertrax will handle the same if not more abuse and drive like stock.

The Detroit locker is one of the only differentials I have yet to see break in a stick car. My car dead hooks with the Detroit locker with 26/10.5/16 et streets. I know a lot of guys running them. Most of the other options break if the car wheel hops. The Detroit locker has been bulletproof for me. When I put in the 9" I had suspension issues initially and had horrible wheel hop. I did a few 6k dumps on slicks that wheel hopped and I swear the Detroit locker was laughing. I was glad the locker was back there to take the punishment. Once you learn how to drive with it you barely know it's there.
