Default is the 10 bolt good for mid 12's?

Stupid question I know. I will never run faster than mid 12's. i need to start thinking of getting a house soon and get out of debt . My rear end is fine but I just want to know if it is going to hold for a mid 12 second car.

all depends how you drive it but with a m6, et streets, and 4.10 gears I don't think it will last long, an automatic would last longer, but it all comes down to how you drive it.

if it has the stock gears in it, and you wont be running anything sticker than nittos, and dont run at the track too much, it would probably be pretty safe

if it blows, you can pick up a complete 10 bolt from this board for like 300 bux.

I agree with not using the ET streets. I blew my 10-bolt on 16" BFG's launching at 3500rpm. I guess you could try slipping the clutch on the launch, and that should have your 10-bolt last a while. Don't dump your clutch unless you are ready to fork some cash over for a new rear.

It should be ok as long as you dump it at high rpm's with those ET street's!

I've got stock 10bolt with 3.73s and TA girdle. Ran 12.73 in 2003 on BFG DR's. Didn't heat them up too much so they didn't hook 100%, but very little spin at all. Rear is still going strong.

Some break some dont. Its really hard to say. DO NOT take it to the track with those DRs if you dont have the money for a 12bolt / 9".

I'd say there are plenty of 6 speed guys running 11's and A4 guys running low 11's with 10 bolts. I've been twice on BFG DR's (my first 2 times ever on dr's) and ran 12.1x's @ 118+. I've seen many people say they've run 1.6x 60 fts with 10 bolts. One trick to help it out is to let the clutch come out just enough to bind the drivetrain when you launch so as to not shock the rear so hard. Tip given to me by Trevor@TexasSpeed.

65 1/4 mile passes and 11,000 miles. 4.10's, M&H 16"x26" good-hooking d.o.t.'s, M6 w/4,000 rpm launches. No breakage. 12.6's @ 110+. Life is short--Play hard... WJ

I launched at 3300 or so, planning on trying 3500-4000 next which should put me in the 11's. Cross my fingers.

I over 250 1/4 mile passes with my stock 10 bolt and very hot bfg's. consistant low low 12's with a clutch dump fo 5k rpm's. no whine or chatter. replacing the rear with a 12 bolt this month as preventitve maintenance.
