Mike stated that what is happening is that when the car is moving at a certain speed and the RPM's are higher than the computer thinks they should at that speed, it will trigger a DTC code, which sends the car into limp home mode. What he said to do in traffic is to ease into the throttle after you get out of it. Do not get in and out of the throttle rapidly. This causes the converter to unlock and lock quickly, which confuses the computer. The best thing to, do according to Mike, is to leave the shifter in "D" under 50 MPH, and bump it into "OD" over 50 MPH, to help in eliminating the annoying P0757 code.
If the SES light does come on, pull over and cut the car off for about one minute and restart the car. The computer should reset itself and go back to shifting normal, but you will still have the SES light showing. The best way to clear the SES light is to hook up the AutoTap and clear out the code. If you do not have an AutoTap, you can pull the PCM IGN and PCM BAT fuses, with the ignition turned on but the car not running, in order to clear the code.
The problem with pulling the fuses is that you lose everything that the computer has "learned" about the car and your PCM has to "re-learn" everything.
Hope this helps those who have the ST-3500 and have been getting SES lights.

What I want to know is why it is that ST3500s seem to have this issue more than others? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">
My SY3500 has never once, in over a year, ever thrown any type of code. Stall speed is the same, so what’s the deal? <img src="images/icons/confused.gif" border="0">

I think it has something to do with the locking and un-locking feature of the ST-3500. Mike would be the guy to explain the details of the converter. Yank's phone number is 501 632-6355

I think the problem has more to do with the year model cars than anything. Most of the problems seem to be happening with '01s. Never got these codes with my two '98s nor my one '00 F-body...and I've run some loose-*** converters, LOL.

I get it all the time. What I do is put it in neutral going down the highway and turn the car off for about 10 seconds and restart it. No need to pull over. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

I'm wondering too that it seems to be more prevalent in '01s & '02s.
Mines been in for a month with no codes.
I do tend to drive pretty sedately around town, though, easing in and out of the throttle and keeping it in 3rd.

Your name fits you pretty well...Loco <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0"> lol
Thanks for the info mmiller. PO757 code for me in my '01 SS. Has only thrown it a couple times.
PO757 = Shift Solenoid stuck - ON...what does that have to do with the lock-up?
Did he say anything about TQ Mgmnt? Maybe since its only in the '01+ cars?
Love the converter but could definately do w/o the side effects.

NASSty01...we all have TM, it just seems that the '01-'02s got it worse...
My freshly tuned MTI PCM is on the way, so I’ll be kissing TM goodbye in a couple of days! <img src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" />

Make sure not to have the ignition in the "off" position while moving...unless you like driving with a locked steering wheel! <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">

How about a manual converter lock-up switch?
(either of the direct garden variety ground-the-TCC solenoid , or the fancy one with the relay to fool the computer by still showing it
high, while showing the TCC solenoid ground!)
My ST4000 will be here probably in February and I'll install it in the spring. I'm eager to
see if I experience/can overcome these issues <img src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" border="0" alt="[devil]" />

Thats a good idea. I think a manual lockup switch will be perfect. <img src="gr_stretch.gif" border="0">

Tried driving home from work in D and it worked great. I locked-up by 30mph and could stay locked all the way to 15-10mph! <img src="gr_eek2.gif" border="0">
It was almost like I had a stock converter in and was in D.

Could you clear this up a little bit - you swapped out a ST3500 for a ST3500?? hmm... sounds like a lot of trouble for the same effect...
Are you sure you didn't mean 3Y3500 for ST3500, or something...???

Patrick G just cleared my SES code for me. Sure enought it was the 1-2 shift solenoid stuck code. I'll see if it comes back. What's suprising is how loose the ST 3000 feels. May need to move to the TT 3000. God, these labor charges are kiling me!!
