Who can tell me about Madman's torque arm?
I've been told this TA is the hot ticket for drag racing. Does anyone have a link to it, or have the skinny on it?

I don't have any real details on it, but I can point you to Madman's web site...

The front mount used to be QUITE low and IMO was not streetable. The bracket came straight down and I have scraped with stuff not as low as that... just an FYI.
I think that the www.billingsley.biz stuff is nice because instead of requiring you to install a custom brace, you can just bolt in a new tranny crossmember.

JS: I am still trying to find out why the torque arm is so long? The web page proclaims that as a good thing, and on a lower horsepower car I still don't understand why? I posted (twice) in the previous thread but never got a response.

with the longer bar you get more leverage and the ability to move the instant center down below the front bumper for a hard "hit" on the launch if yo so desire. also the length of the arm helps with the load carring capability of the unit

See, this is what I have the problem with though. The rotation of the rear end housing is effectively a fixed torque, not force. When we go with a longer bar you actually reduce the downward force and have less initial "hit". A shorter instant center will give you a much harder hit than a long one. Did you see the "Instant Center" post?

I've been in touch with Abe about the Stealth arm and I'm pretty much set on it. I saw one at Jays shop and it looked like a really nice piece. I was just curious about the Madman arm...seems a little too hardcore for me.

I have the chrome moly spherical rod end on the front. I talked to Steve and he said that was the way to go because then you have no bind with body roll. I went with his recommendation. I don't have any increase in noise or vibration, but man did it tighten the car up!!

I don't have a digital camera so I don't have any installed pictures. You can see the torque arm on their website. I just looked and he doesn't have any pictures up yet of the LS1 set up, but if you look at the LT1 picture at http://www.spohn.net/productimages/LT1TA_big.jpg it's the same thing but my crossmember drops down where the exhaust goes over it.
