Noisey Moser 12 bolt pole
I hevs been hearing a lot of complaints on
the Moser 12 bolts being very noisey.
Post here what cut gear you have.
Is the the Pro gear or the Street gear.
Iwill talk to Mr. Moser personally to address
the situation. I do run alot of there stuff
and hav had no problems to date.
Lets solve this issue !

after a few track runs mine howls on decel and clunk-clunk-clunks from 20mph down to a stop. I'm not talking 6k clutch dumps and did I mention the 1350 yolk has spread out not fitting the u-joint so my cars back end vibrates from 60mph up. Have I talked about the pinion nut coming loose twice and the new seal replacement the first 100 miles? Street gears btw.sorry, but this a giant can of worms.

ha, mine whines BAD!!! 4.11 street gears. Mine does the same thing glennster, whines real bad on decel, and a low pitch, grinding type whine from about 60 until I stop. 4k dumps on M/T ET drag radials. Car's only got about 360hp/350tq, no power house here. oh BTW, I addressed my problems with Moser about the whine and leaks that I have (pinion seal, cover), the tech guy was a real ***, repeated the same thing and blamed the leaking on me because I didn't fill it properly (filled it using the factory style fill plug on side of the housing), he said that my vent was plugged, but I kept telling him that it was spewing out the vent tube, then he went back to telling me I overfilled it. Moser will never get my money EVER again. The bad thing is, the rear only has about 3,000 miles on it. .ahhhh, ok I feel better now

9" it for less
I have yet to set up a gear set in a Moser 12 bolt housing and it be quiet. I usually recomend a 9" instead of 12 bolts just because I can build them absolutely quiet. I have sold well over a 10-1 ratio in 9" - 12 bolts just because of the niose factor but I have considered a 12 bolt in some cases just to reatain a 3 chanel abs system. I have lost sales cause I have refused building a Moser 12 bolt to customers that demand a 12 bolt be absolutely quiet. I have been considering a Strange buy in but I am to small for their buy in standards. Fixing this niose issue would boost sales for a Moser 12 bolt and in vendor confidence. mine is a little loud... but our cars are hatch back so it will sound bad anyways..... ss4000e stall cutting 1.56 60' with stock internals.... now i have cam and intake and other goodies... i need larger tires (on the way) so i should be hitting a 1.4x 60' with new rims and tires.
no complaints here....
4.10 gears
33 spline
wilwood drag brakes
no abs
no ASR
poppin wheelies and happy as a pig in ****!

I have a Strange 12 bolt. 5 track passes and it screams it is so bad i pulled it out. It's for sale now on Ebay and here. Getting a 9" as soon as it sells this has been one very expensive mistake. Get the 9"
Good Luck

I do not have a CMM machine to tell you what is happening. I worked at AAM in Detroit MI. and I used to run a CNC transfer line that cut the 8.6 center section for the half ton pick-ups. we CMM checked 2 per shift off of every line and we kept tollerences within 17 microns.
I do know that the tubes flex as much as .060 when launching a car. Maybe there is something shifting inside the casting cause I only hear of people having gear noise after going to the track.

This is may thought also. When we build a 12 bolt it has braces on the bottom like a truss and 4130 bars slightly pre-loaded pulling
on the front of the tubes. We also use a very stout DOM or
4130 axles tubes. These rears hold tolerances very well and
very long. I would like to shoot my fixture through one of these
noisey units if someone local is willing. I honestly have no customers
that have called me with this problem. Are these noisey units a
complete bought bolt in straight from Moser?

Ok...to the "whiney people".......did any of you notice any significant amount of metal shavings when you changed your gear oil?
I'm trying to figure if this is just a nuisance, or something leading to destruction. I've only got 1500 miles and 20+ passes on my 12 Bolt Siren, and it's a little too early to change it out again. (Done it twice already.)
The first couple times I changed it, there was some shavings stuck to the magnet, but none in the bottom of the pumpkin. I am curious what it will look like in a few months when I pop the cover again...

I wouldn't mind letting you test your peice on my Moser, I'm located in VA.
I'm up in Michigan. Lets see if someone local will connect.
Hate to see you spend all that money just to check it out.
We will give this a little more time, the response is still
coming. By the way did yours whine right from first or
did it start after a few good rips?
