Of course, your answers would be based on the same things, i.e., gear size installed ... DR's versus slicks vs street tires.
Or did you guys/gals go an entirely different route than the 12-bolt rear.

My B/F twisted axle splines and even broke a Moser axle with his 12 bolt when it was a 6 speed on slicks.

Now, that's an idea .... I'm not sure if I would miss the ABS ... the cost sure would be better and I could probably handle the impact. If they're gonna' have my car for another month, maybe this is the time for the rearend to go in and be done with it. I just can't handle the cost of a 12-bolt after $13,500 I just spent on the motor and supporting mods ... plus the $3,000+ I'm having to spend on a racebuilt tranny. DAMN! These cars are expensive ... LOL!
I really liked the 9" I saw on NEXT's car. Looks like a horizontal radio tower section. Think a 9" would be Ok for a daily driver? ... aren't they about the same weight as a 12-bolt?
Maybe sell the current rearend for $400-$500. It has a brand new HD Eaton posi, nice MAC girdle cover, and a brand new 3.73 GM OE factory ring gear and pinion setup ... installed only about 500 miles ago.

Mine's sold for $650 ... to a guy in Cali. I decided to go with the Strange on the recommendation of my builder. The strange has the torque arm mounted with straight-through bolts ... went with the 33 spline axles and 3.73's, so, it should handle anything I can throw at it.
One deciding factor ws there is only a $200 cost difference with the 12-bolt versus the 9" ... being all things equal ... that is, both rearends max'd out with everything you can do to one. I guess the labor probably accounted for a big chunk of the money ... 12-bolt is assembled and the 9" ships in seperate packages.
I did ask Eric and he said he took the advice of an old popular racer who told him to build like he was going 8's, which he has done. Mine's a street/strip car, and driveability are important to me. Thnaks for the advice Claire and I'm nearly certain I'll be at BMP with you folks.
I'll send you a money order before the first. If I can't make it for some weird reason, I don't expect a refund. TTYL.

love the moser, but the noise comes from the gears. I am going to install some Yucon gears and see if they are quiter. only because someone has to find out for those who want a fast quite ride. Btw I am lightly modded and staying with heavy hitters, I like to think its that I have adapted to the car very well.

Moser 12-bolt. 4.11 gears. Girdle-cover. 33 spline axles. Eaton HD posi.
Nice and quiet as received from Moser. Adding the backing plates myself was a cinche and allowed me to Por-15 them before mounting. Here's my small beefs:
1) spring pockets are too level. For our cars that put the rear spring at an incline, which gets even more angled under compression, I would have hoped for spriung seats with about 20 degrees rearward incline.
2) LCA brackets are stock location (actually ~1/8" lower due to thicker axle tubes). For a modest amount of research they could have easily made the stock brackets extended down with alternate mounting holes. No need for LCA brackets woudl have been a nice bonus and weight loss IMO.
3) PHR is in stock location. Same deal as above... with a better brace design they could have included a 2 to 4" drop on the PHR for the corner carvers that want to play with the roll center. Granted this is a small niche market... but the option would have been nice.
4) No Backing plate option. I didn't need it, but it would have been nice... and it's probably cost them a few sales in the past I'd bet.
5) Torque Arm uses 4 bolts. Would have been nice to re-use the stock pass-through bolts for a torque arm mount. Granted, the 4 bolts used can be replaced much easier than the 2 pass-through ones, and may even be stronger... but the appeal of a stock mounting system is attractive.
6) No Sway Bar Mounts. contrary to their instructions, just using a 3" muffler clamp will not work with a stock rear sway bar. I needed at least 1" drop on the axle bushings to make it fit around the aluminum girdle/cover. Spohns brackets are a) pricey, and b) notched to fit. The BMR ones are 2.75" or 3.25"... no one seems to make a true 3" bracket set... I ordered 2.75" ones and used a 3" hole saw to cut them out to size. I still havn't welded them on, but using Grade 8 U-bolts elliminated that need anyway (had to notch the holes a bit to space them appart enough for the 3" u-bolts).
7) I specifically ordered a 3-series carrier with 4.11 gears... but the build sheet shows they went with a 4-series carrier instead. The idea was to shave some pounds off the system by using the narrow rings... but apparently the 33-spline Eaton doesn't come in 3-series, or they figured I didn't know what I was doing. Either way I would have appreciated a call.
8) Solid Pinion Bearing Spacer wasn't available. Strange has a nice unit I ordered and have ready for the next rebuild... but Moser claims it wasn't nessesary.
All minor issues really, nothing I couldn't get past on my own, but those were the things that irked me for a "fully loaded" $2300 12-bolt.

I want to get A 12-bolt now that I messed up my rear by slamming it into curb at 55-60 mph yesterday. i hope my frame aint bent that will suck if it is. I wonder if i can tell the shop what rear end i want i dont want a new 10 bolt i would rather pay the dif and get a 12 bolt. and my rims got cunks missing out of them but they still held air. so I want new rims of my choice and a 12 bolt i wonder if the insurance would have a prob with this has anyone done this i would be willing to pay the difference in prices. Just wondering. I still cant belive that I crashed i feel like its a bad dream i will wake up and my car will be fine. thank god I am fine because it is a lot harder to find parts for me than it is my car .

Sorry about your bad luck 01formula. You'll get beyond this. I don't see why they couldn't put the rearend of your choice in. The insurance company sends the shop money and the shop buys the parts. Just tell 'em you want a different rearend and pay the difference. Hang in there!
Jeb, I just ordered a Strange 12-bolt from Billingsley. I hope it doesn't take as long as you've been waiting, but if parts are backordered it probably will. I can't wait, too, to get this badboy installed. I'm psyched about 4.10s.
