Denny won't take others measurements, I tried.

He insisted on me measuring MY car.

41-11/16" from center of U-joint to U-joint

You are in luck, I just had my driveshaft in my dining room and measured it for you.

Fluid will leak out the tailshaft if the yoke is pulled out.

nitrous ready ds only fits a 1350 yolk.Stock is 1330.FYI.
Maybe get a heavy duty ds.I think they're 50.00 less and they
are strong.

Default Broke my DS on the DYNO! Anyone have Denny's 'Nitrous ready' driveshaft measurements?

Yup. Put down 311rwhp/332rwtq (ftra, lid, cutout) through a yank3000. Ran it up to redline and let off, which was instantly accompanied by the most god awful clanking sounds ever. I busted one of the ears of the yoke on the driveshaft (where it connects to the tailshaft of the trash). It chewed the crap out of my Metco DSL and crushed up the collector area on the Y-pipe pretty good. Couldn't even find any pieces of the Ujoint, it appears to have disintegrated. Just a buncha scraps of metal and shavings laying on the ground.

So, I want a Denny's nitrous ready DS. Anyone have all the measurements for a stock A4/10bolt so I don't have to figure out how I'm going to jack up the car while it's on the grass? Any suggestions on options I should get? I assume the DS includes yokes and ujoints, so I shouldn't need anything else, right?

Something that struck me odd - I really hope I didnt blow the tranny too. I lost a LOT of fluid. Some initially, but mostly from when the car was getting pulled up on the flatbed. The output shaft on the trans appears to be intact so where would the fluid be coming from? The pan appears fine and the fluid appears to be coming from the rear or passenger side of the trans. Think I busted up the trans bad? Ahh crap. Someone tell me that the tailshaft of the trans is SUPPOSED to leak like that, please.

I did put the car in Reverse and Drive after I got it towed home. It does engage and doesn't make any strange noises, though there was a vibration when I put it in drive. Not sure if it's just because there's nothing attach to the trans or if it's because something is busted. Sounded fine though.

Finally, any idea why this happened? Car isn't exactly a powerhorse and it was on a dyno for chrissakes! I had the car in D, and had just run up to redline in 3rd. I let off and that's when all hell broke loose. Are you supposed to let off slowly, or put it in neutral or something? The dyno operator didn't know when I asked him before the run (it was an import shop).

Here's to hoping it's just the DS.

Appreciate any ideas or help.

Thanks
Dope

you prolly messed up the rear seal on the ttranny(best case senario) or you fked up the tranny(worst case, and i doubt it).

i'm running a Dennys HD 3 1/2 aluminum. put down 630 FTLB @ the wheels on the dyno and it held fine. Denny will not warranty the aluminum HD for nitrous use. it also lighter than stock.

Hey guys, thanks for the input (and for the measurement, Tony!).

Turns out the damage is much worse than I thought. Exhaust is crushed and bent downwards (which bent down the floorpan brace in the process). Torque arm is bent up bad, and also the bushing and mount are destroyed. Tailshaft on the tranny is cracked all the way around. Ripped a few small holes in the trans tunnel portion of the floorboards too. *sigh*

Looks like when the torque arm got bent to the side, it leveraged against the tailshaft and cracked it off. Trans engages gears and does not make noise, so I'm going to get a new tailshaft assembly and a new DS and see how she does. Will have to replace the torque arm and mount, but I can probably get that for faily cheap in the classifieds or a junkyard.

The front ujoint is still intact, and attached to the slip yoke of the trans. Looks like the front yoke of the DS just...let go. Yes, aluminum shaft

Scary about the DS. Think I'll keep my steel one.
Ditto on the fluid running out with the yoke not in trans when car at an angle. Nothing to contact the seal. Once poured ATM into a T400 only to watch it pool on the concrete.

BTW - My Nitro shaft was within 1/2 inch length of my stock one.
