Default need some help with suspension

I have a 02 ss 6spd. the car was wreacked before i had it, not bad. here's the deal. i bought a panhard rod and trailing arms and torque arms. put them on. i was reading that the adj panhard is for centering the rearend. so i checked mine. it was 1" to one side. so i measured the rearend from the jounce brackets to the outside of the wheel on both sides. is this the reason for using this? why do you center it? i heard from somebody that these cars were built to one side. is this true? did i f__k something up? thanks for the help.

The panhard bar is for centering the rear end...I wouldn't say it's 'built to one side'...it's just the way it is made, different makers have different ways of affixing rear ends to the car...

If you already have an adjustable panhard, then you can adjust it so that it does not stick out on one side. You center the rear end because it would look funny if you didn't, and because you want the car to travel as true as possible.

Sounds like you might have some issues in the tuning...you could get that smoothed out and it won't ride as rough.

Also when you add aftermarket suspension - most of it is tubular, which transmits a lot more noise than you would normally hear. The torque arm especially is the culprit for a LOT of banging around, mine about drove me insane.

what in the tuning whould make that clanking sound. it seems to come from the trans, axle area. maybe some beings wore out?

That's not quite what I meant - I mean the tune could probably be fixed so the car would drive smoother in general...less cam surge = less drivetrain clanking and clunking around as a result.

I doubt the bearings are worn out...after you add a bunch of aftermarket suspension, you are sacrificing quietness for rigidity. They transmit a lot more noise/clunking (especially the aftermarket torque arm).
