I wouldnt go beefing up the 10 bolt . you can break them on stock on power with aftermarket axles and girdle? But i heard jeep axles will work and are alot stronger than stock ones but dont hold me to it .

There is a thread at least once a week on 12 bolt vs 9 inch...in the end none of us are running 10 bolts anymore so we are all happy as can be

Of course. There is a lot more 'shock' in the drivetrain with a manual. Think about it. You drop the clutch at 6k rpms and all of the slack in the rear end SNAPS together. That's why some A4 people get lucky and ride their stuff well into the low 11's when M6'ers are breaking rears running 13's
People say the 9 inches are stronger, but really if you search you will find very few of either rear end ever breaking. Another option is the Dana S60.

To do a LOW 9-second pass with only 700 rwhp, you're going to have to launch the crap out of your car. I don't see the stock 10-bolt doing this once much less more than that even with an auto. We're talking 1.4-1.3 60s. With steep gears like 4.10/1 you're punishing the stock rear even more than the stock ratio- all with a decreased pinion.
Also, you're talking about a 140 mph trap potential here. This is NOT going to happen with 4.10/1 gears unless your motor turns to 8500 rpm.

Maybe he meant 1/8 mile?
Seriously though we can argue about 12 bolt this and 9" that and whudabout the S60 or even me with my mild plans will say just put an 8.5" 10 bolt (not a popular opinion btw) or even the 8.8" Ford, but.......... we all agree DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on a 7 5/8" 10 bolt
