Question best gear for auto Z28?

trying to decide a gear to go with in my 02 Z i just got its automatic and i know if i put a 4.10 in it, its going to be different from my SS M6 with a 4.10.

so the ? is what gear would you put in a bolt ons daily driven A4 Z28 3.73, 3.90, or 4.10? can anyone post any estimates of top speed in the car in 4th gear with each gear?

thanks for your help

3.42 is a good all around gear. With a 6700 RPM rev limiter you'll top out at 212 MPH but I've only ran mine up to 170

this lets you put in different rear end gears...do you not read posts? If you want 4th to top out at 120...you would have to get that custom made because it would be 5.45. but that would be so unstreetable..it wouldn't even be funny.. HENCE WHY I PUT A LINK TO FIND A GEAR THAT WOULD WORK FOR YOU.

sorry for biting off your head then. no problem. you should find out what gears are sold and plug them in, then figure out which is the best compromise for what your looking for.

I have 4.10's in my El Camino. Then again thats with a th-350 so you'll have another gear. Cruisin over 3,000 rpm on the highway just to stay with traffic is not fun

But I think 4.10 would be fine on the Z28. I don't see the need to go 120mph anyway.

Default gears

You need to be set on tire size before you make a decision like this, but as the guys said go to that link and type in your information. In my opinion a 4.10 may be a little steep, a 3.73 is a good gear for straight line and it has a good compromise for daily driving. The reason I said tires could be a big issue is because with 3.73z and a 4l60e on a 26 inch tire I was ready for the rev limiter at the big end, a 28 took me down about 400 rpms
