Question bout Zexel...
apparently I have destroyed my ring and pinion. the pinion is missing about 5-8 teeth (3.23 gearing..12 teeth on pinion) and around 5 teeth on the ring gear.
Also missing several teeth on the ABS reluctor ring (dammit...those are hard to come by).
My question is (obviously i have to replace the gears adn stuff) -- what are your guys' opinions on wether i should reuse the zexel or replace it with a new one?
Thanks.

You might want to consider a true trac instead. Make sure you flush everything out including the axle tubes.

torque split can be less than the mu-difference
between spinning and stuck tire (hence the "one
wheel peel"). Though this is better for stability it's
not the ultimate in traction and I believe when you
go past the end of the torque-split range that's
where you make shavings.
I would R&R all of the moving parts myself if you
are seeing chunks (hell, I did it just for the amount
of stock-Torsen shavings I found when doing first
diff oil change). About a hundred bucks worth of
parts, make it $120 if you want a hard pinion spacer
setup. You're looking at full setup labor anyway for
the new gears.
anyway, i picked up a used torsen for $125. better to be safe than sorry - i'd go ahead and replace it. we didnt know mine was in crappy shape until we got it completely out of the car and got down reeeeeally close to inspect it.
