Default Rearend noise help

Hey guys this is my first post and I need a little help I have a 99Z28 A4 and when I make a right hand turn with my foot off the gas at sloww speed the rearend growls really loud but only when I turn right with my foot off the gas if I even lay my foot on the pedal it quits. I wasted the pinon bearing last year and thought that would be a great time to change gears since the pinon was eaten up anyway. I put all new bearings in it and richmond 3.42 from jegs. i also replaced the u joints been driving it this way for about a year now and had it at the dragstrip a couple of times with no strange metal shavings when I change the oil any help would be great it drives me nuts

it sounds to me like a carrier bearing may have scored or pitted roller bearings. If it was a pinion bearing i cant see making a turn effect it. And I cant see it being an axle bearing as i dont think hitting the gas would effect the stress on the axle bearings as much as the carrier bearings. Remember when the pinion spins the ring gear it is also creating a force on the carrier pushing it towards the drivers side of the car, directly on the drivers side carrier bearing, axle bearings dont have a side load like carrier bearings do. If you remove the caps you should be able to get a flashlight in there to see if there is any visible damage to either of carrier bearings. Unfortunatly, the race will be blocking most of your view, you may have to remove the carrier and pull the races off to truly see the entire roller. If thats the case you must then remove the axles and pull the carrier out with out having to romoving the pinion or driveshaft, just MAKE SURE to put all the shims (probably just two factory thick ones if it has never been tampered with) back in the EXACT way they came out

Its the carrier bearings...I had to replace them both two times on my 99Z....Not a bad job, the 10 bolts are easy to work with....

They just couldnt hold the power of a 150 shot and a 6 speed....If you dont do it soon the slop from the bad bearings will cause you to loose a tooth on the gears....
