LS1 Speed has their new line of Race Prepped and Extreme Race Prepped Upgraded Transmissions. I've heard some good things about them, but I think they are somewhat new.

Why couldn't chucks Level IV trans hold that? 650 FT Lbs is alot, but i would think it will hold, maybe a once a year re-freshaning is required. Worst case, get a power-glide.

I know Mike Kurtz (Century transmission) does 4L60Es in addition to 200-4Rs. Might want to check his stuff out.

IMO, the FLP level IV will be your best shot at getting a 4L60E to live w/ your power level. Just keep in mind that eventually you do reach the limits of a trans, no matter who builds it.

I looked on FLP's website for the Level IV transmission, but couldn't find it advertised anywhere on there. Does anyone have a link?

My FLP level IV gen II is holding 450rwhp and 500rwtq. I have 28" tires and a 4.10 gear and a 3600 converter.

I have the LS1 speed tranny. I have not raced it yet or really beat on it yet, BUT I WILL SOON. It is a little loud and shifts hard, but I guess that is to be expected with the performance variety. It has a 6 month warranty which is respectable. Tom at LS1 speed has been terrific with me so far. I would as of right now recommend it, but the truth is only time will tell. Bear.

I know of a few H/C cars and cam only cars running around w/the Speed Inc's tranny, they beat the hell out of their cars and they hold up fine...

I’ve had my Speed inc tranny since early April. My car sees idle and floor. It’s held up well for me. I try and keep my temps under 200 though, I think that helps a lot.

Am I the only one who read his post? He said 650 torque, not 400, not even 500, and not once in a while, "every day and twice on Sunday".

Certainly if I had to bet on one it would be the FLP IV, no question, but look, you're talking about double the stock torque, 650 that's SIX HUNDRED FIFTY...everybody got that?? ....lol..... ... ok I'll shut up now and wait for the busted tranny post

Probably the reason I decided to ante up for it. You can get much cheaper to hold this power, but aren't too many OD trannys that will.

As far as I know there were some refunds made since the transmittions would not hold up.
Maybe there`s been some changes?

How much $$$?

Does it have OD?

Does it work and feel exactly like a 4L60E?

I'm still up in the air about which tranny to go with and I only have a week to decide.

PM me if you want to know more. This is definitely not the cheap route, but Mike Kurtz probably makes the best 200-4Rs in the country.

It has a 0.67 OD. Actually a smidgen taller than the 0.70 OD in the 4L60E.

I can't compare it to a 4L60E. I was an M6 guy before, but got sick of the breakage issues of having a lot of power with a brutal clutch.
