oh dude... i didnt know you went from 2.73's to 3.42's, thats going from a 2 series posi to a 3 series posi. 2.73's come on a 2 series posi. 3.42's come on a 3 series posi. In order for 3.42's to work on a 2 series posi you have to

A)buy 3.42's that are specificaly made for a 2 series posi.

B) buy a spacer ring.

C) install a 3 series posi.

Did you by any change have a 3 seires posi unit installed?

If thats the case, did it have this reluctor wheel on it http://www.afterthoughtsauto.com/reluctor-ring.html
you need this ring pressed onto the posi for teh ABS sensor to get a reading

yeah, your missing the reluctor ring, the mechanic should have transfered the ring from your old posi to your new posi. Thats part of doing the job correctly.

ok just got back fro mseeing the mechanic, he checked it out and told me that the problem might be the reluctor ring. meaning that he took my old 1 off my stock posi unit , which were the 2.73's , and put that 1 on the posi unit that i bought . now what he thinks happened is that being that my old posi unit was a 2 series carrier and the new 1 is a 3 series carrier, he thinks that the reluctor ring is not as thick as the rings on other 3 series carriers thus causing it to send the bad abs signal. so basically he says i need a reluctor ring 4 a 3 series carrier posi. what u guys think?

3 series ABS rings are 1/2" thick so you will need to contact a GM dealer and get one from a 3.23 or numerically higher ratio case.

if 3 series are only 1/2" thick, how thick are 2 series? I may have the wrong ring on my spare rear now that i think of it, i noticed it looked a litte far over to the passender side of the car.....

LOL, When GM did the restyle in 1993 we were pulling out our hair until we seen the thicker ABS gears in 3.23 cars. Glad I could help.
