Need Help: How to remove axles?
Someone had mentioned a pin or something that needed to be removed inside the rear to get the axles out. But I didn't see it, or at least I'm not sure what to look for. I need some help finding what is holding these axles in.
I read another thread and a few people were mentioning that the backing plates needed to be pressed OFF... Is this true? It looks like 4 bolts hold each of the backing plates. I thought the only thing that needed to be pressed on and off were the relucter rings to the axle. Can someone clear this up?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

It should be a Torsen diff. Turn the diff until you see a small bolt ( I think its a 1/4") running horizontal and remove it. This will allow you to pull a small block out that holds the axles in place. Push in on the axles and this will expose the c-clips on the inside ends of the axles. I pop mine off with a screw driver and they fell down in the diff.
The backing plates will unbolt from the stock rear axle tubes. The plates will need to placed on the new axles and then the axle bearings will need to be pressed onto the axle.

the above post is exactly right. make sure that you take your wheel speed sensors out BEFORE you pull the axel out. it is a 10 mm bolt on both sides. i just installed mine today and am waiting for a u joint that should be in on monday. if you need help, send me an e-mail. mine took me 5 hours.

Once the pin is out and the c-clips are removed, you can slide each axle out. The backing plates can then come off. Bearings only get pressed onto the axle when a 'c-clip eliminatior kit' is used, which is much safer... I just took out my stock rearend to do a gear swap.
Got a minor, question... Where is the "limited slip" part to this differential? I mean is that center block what distributed power equally to both wheels? If so how?
As soon as I can find a spot to host them, I'll post you guys up some pics. The amount of metal shavings was scary!!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
