Default 6.xx/7.xx gear ratio

has anyone even used these ratios moser/strange offer for the 9"?

Those are rock crawling or tractor pulling ratios. not something you would find in a car that had to go over 50mph max

6.xx will not move fast at all. Not for cars at the strip/street.

i was looking on the EPP website and DLS and it showed 6.xx/7.00 ratio and thought about how the hell thoes would be useful.

Short track or dirt track racers use them to stay up in the rpm's in and out of the turns. I actually built 3 Ford 9 inch center sections a few months ago for a race team. One was a 6.00 with a spool, 6.20 with a spool, and the last one was a 6.50 with a spool. They are really hard to set up just right to handle the power and heat. The teeth cut on a 6.00 ratio is 36 on the ring and 6 on the pinion.

what makes them so hard to setup? what do you do special for them?

I have ran a 6.50 6.67 and a 6.83 many times.... you can go fast if you can turn the 9700 rpm's it takes to get there...bad thing is the gear mechanically slows the vehicle so lash is very important it can also upset the vehicle in corner entry...

well this solved my curiosity. wierd picturing 6 teeth on the pinion though
