So how bad is a spool for daily driving?

I'll prolly be buying a new rear in a few months, and not sure if I should go w/posi or just go with a locker of sorts...
what types are available for 12 bolts? (moser)
How bad would a locker or spool be for a daily driver? (well going forward the TA is prolly going to be more of a 1-2 times a week and weekends driver this year)

if you run a spool you will probably break something. definately dont do that.
Lockers arent bad, but you will most likely get a little noise when turning and your tires will wear out faster that with a regular posi. I dont know how much better your traction will be at the strip because ive never used one for the street. But i would say get a posi unless someone else reccomenends a locker. i know they are far superior to a posi offroad but never used them at the strip

I have no problems with my spool and 5.14 gears in the Hot Rod. Driving on the street is no problem and the track is a blast. I have never broke anything since I started running a spool.
If you are going to race your Hot Rod at the track alot then IMO I would get the spool.

As long as your axles are stronger than your
tires' grip you won't break anything.
But a spool ensures that, when you go around
a corner, at least one of your rear tires
is going to be slipping.
So you should take all corners on two wheels...
then there's no problem!

How are spools driving in the rain? Do you have to take any corner at 2 mph or what? I dont wanna go with a spool and end up wrecking in the rain with it.

I would think that you would have to go around slow...I'm going to be testing how well the Moser Eaton posi holds up, I'm running 3.73's, if it breaks off of boost launches, I am running a spool...I always hear spool cars chirping as they are coming around corners, I drove in my friends T/A w/a spool, its not that bad...

I daily drive my car with a spool and it is fine.
The car is a little harder to parallel park and it does drag the tires around corners, but there are several positives as well.
The car wants to go straight at the track, if it starts to get squirrly and I let off a little it corrects itself. And you will probably never have to change it!

Fine...I don't take sharp freeway turns at breakneck speeds when it is raining, but if anything I think that the car is much more 'predictable' with a spool.

I wondered about the rain thing too before I got my spool. Now that I have driven mine for thousands of miles I don't think there is much of a difference at all, as far as rain is concerned. I haven't had any problem in the rain whatsoever. But maybe that's just me! (disclaimer)
